- SYS
-
- SYS is an external command that copies the system files from the disk in the
- default drive to the disk or diskette in the specified drive. There must be
- enough room in the right place to hold the system files. On systems prior to
- 4.0, this required an empty (freshly formatted) disk, unless the /B option on
- FORMAT was used. SYS won't work for disks on another computer in a network.
- [Not supported in OS/2]
-
- SYS d:
-
- d: is the letter of the disk drive that you want to copy the system files to.
- The disk must have been previously formatted with space available for the
- system files. Only the brave will use SYS to copy system files to a disk
- with files on it for a pre-4.0 system.
-
- The system files that are transferred are usually hidden files. COMMAND.COM
- is NOT transferred, even though it is required for normal system operation.
- You must use the COPY command to transfer COMMAND.COM and any other external
- DOS commands you may want on d:.
