WinChess README.1ST file, 11 Oct 90
-----------------------------------
Introduction
------------
This is the first released version of my WinChess chess program for Microsoft
Windows. I figured it was about time we had a REAL chess program running under
Windows and not something half-baked.
As my Taipei program proved to be very popular as a shareware program, I've
decided to make WinChess shareware as well. If you like WinChess, then please
support my efforts by sending along $15 to me at my address:
David Norris
17911 NE 101st Ct.
Redmond, WA 98052
The only thing the $15 "registration" buys you is the satisfaction you've done
the right thing. There's no product support and no user manual (although there
is a help file), and no product updates - though if enough people register I'm
sure a new and improved version of WinChess will appear on your favorite BBS...
I'm sure there will be some bugs in this first version. I've encountered a
crashing bug on a few occasions but I'm not sure whether it was WinChess or
another random Windows app. When you send in the $15 feel free to send along
your bug list and a list of features you'd like to see in the program.
Installation
------------
Just copy all of the files in a subdirectory and run WINCHESS.EXE. If you run
the Windows program manager then you can add WINCHESS as an icon to your GAMES
program group. WINCHESS will create one more file, WINCHESS.INI, with your
option settings.
