- Instructions
-
-
- Please find attached the necessary files for running the NRL test races. We are
- planning at least two races, and possibly more, depending on the outcome of the
- first two.
-
- NRLTEST.ZIP consists of the following files:
-
- README.NOW <this file> YOU'RE READING IT NOW!
- NRLTEST.DAT <cars data file> THIS FILE IS OPTIONAL
- DRIVERS2.TXT <drivers file> THIS FILE IS REQUIRED
- TALADEGA.TXT <replacement track text file> THIS FILE IS REQUIRED
- NRL_V12.TXT <NRL Rules & Regs> LATEST UPDATE
- DRVRMEET.TXT <Weather/Percentage info> A MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!
- RACE_FRM.TXT <To be completed after racing>
-
- It is not necessary to be a registered driver to run the test races. The test
- races are merely to familiarize both the NRL Staff and the drivers of the
- scoring procedures, and to generally see how things will go.
-
- You will notice that the *.DAT file is basically the carset that came with
- NASCAR Racing when you purchased it. The only changes that have been made is
- that we have moved a few cars around.
-
- The DRIVERS2.TXT file is much different than what came with NASCAR Racing. The
- NRL Verification Analyst, Rick Mahoney, has developed this file to help make
- the AI more competitive. Please note that this is a "beta" drivers file and
- this is NOT the file you will be using in the NRL Series.
-
- At Talladega, the AI does not qualify at the speeds that we are now able to
- achieve in the simulation, therefore, the NRL is requiring everyone to
- replace their current "stock" TALADEGA.TXT file with the one we have provided
- for you.
-
- HOW TO USE THE NRL FILES
- ------------------------
-
- Create a directory in your \NASCAR\CARS sub-directory called NRLTEST. Copy
- the NRLTEST.DAT and DRIVERS2.TXT files into this directory. When you enter
- NASCAR Racing, select DRIVER INFO, and the select CARSETS, and then select
- NRLTEST. That will load the NRLTEST carset.
-
- SAMPLE:
-
- cd nascar\cars
- md nrltest
- copy nrltest.dat c:\nascar\cars\nrltest
- copy drivers2.txt c:\nascar\cars\nrltest
-
- To implement the TALADEGA.TXT file, first go to the \NASCAR\TRACKS\TALADEGA
- directory and rename TALADEGA.TXT to TALADEGA.BAK. This will ensure that you
- will not overwrite the original track textfile that came with NASCAR Racing.
- FYI: The only thing we actually have changed in the TALADEGA.TXT file is to
- increase the RELS from 100 to 155.
-
- SAMPLE:
-
- cd nascar\tracks\taladega
- ren taladega.txt taladega.bak
-
- Now copy the new NRL Talladega track file
-
- SAMPLE:
-
- copy taladega.txt c:\nascar\tracks\taladega
-
- And that will have you racing the first NRL Test Race! Be sure and read all the
- other info so you know how to set the weather and all......
