- The _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w program displays _d_i_t_r_o_f_f output on an X dis-
- play. It uses no special metrics and automatically con-
- verts the printer coordinates into screen coordinates;
- using the user-specified screen resolution, rather than
- the actual resolution so that the appropriate fonts can be
- found. If ``--'' is given as the _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e_, _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w reads
- from standard input. If ``||'' is the first character of
- _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e_, _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w forks _s_h to run the rest of the ``file
- name'' and uses the standard output of that command.
-
- OOPPTTIIOONNSS
- _X_d_i_t_v_i_e_w accepts all of the standard X Toolkit command
- line options along with the additional options listed
- below:
-
- --ppaaggee _p_a_g_e_-_n_u_m_b_e_r
- This option specifies the page number of the docu-
- ment to be displayed at start up time.
-
- --rreessoolluuttiioonn _s_c_r_e_e_n_-_r_e_s_o_l_u_t_i_o_n
- This specifies the desired screen resolution to
- use; fonts will be opened by requesting this reso-
- lution field in the XLFD names.
-
- --nnooPPoollyyTTeexxtt
- Some X servers incorrectly implement PolyText with
- multiple strings per request. This option sup-
- pesses the use of this feature in _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w_.
-
- --bbaacckkiinnggSSttoorree _b_a_c_k_i_n_g_-_s_t_o_r_e_-_t_y_p_e
- Redisplay can take up to a second or so; this
- option causes the server to save the window con-
- tents so that when it is scrolled around the view-
- port, the window is painted from contents saved in
- backing store. _b_a_c_k_i_n_g_-_s_t_o_r_e_-_t_y_p_e can be one of
- AAllwwaayyss, WWhheennMMaappppeedd or NNoottUUsseeffuull.
-
- The following standard X Toolkit command line arguments
- are commonly used with _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w_:
-
- --bbgg _c_o_l_o_r
- This option specifies the color to use for the
- background of the window. The default is _w_h_i_t_e.
-
- --bbdd _c_o_l_o_r
- This option specifies the color to use for the

- border of the window. The default is _b_l_a_c_k.
-
- --bbww _n_u_m_b_e_r
- This option specifies the width in pixels of the
- border surrounding the window.
-
- --ffgg _c_o_l_o_r
- This option specifies the color to use for dis-
- playing text. The default is _b_l_a_c_k.
-
- --ffnn _f_o_n_t
- This option specifies the font to be used for dis-
- playing widget text. The default is _f_i_x_e_d.
-
- --rrvv This option indicates that reverse video should be
- simulated by swapping the foreground and back-
- ground colors.
-
- --ggeeoommeettrryy _g_e_o_m_e_t_r_y
- This option specifies the preferred size and posi-
- tion of the window.
-
- --ddiissppllaayy _h_o_s_t::_d_i_s_p_l_a_y
- This option specifies the X server to contact.
-
- --xxrrmm _r_e_s_o_u_r_c_e_s_t_r_i_n_g
- This option specifies a resource string to be
- used.
-

- This program uses a _D_v_i widget. It understands all of the
- core resource names and classes as well as:
-
-
- wwiiddtthh ((class WWiiddtthh))
- Specifies the width of the window.
-
- hheeiigghhtt ((class HHeeiigghhtt))
- Specifies the height of the window.
-
- ffoorreeggrroouunndd ((class FFoorreeggrroouunndd))
- Specifies the default foreground color.
-
- ffoonntt ((class FFoonntt))
- Specifies the font to be used for error messages.
-
- FFoonnttMMaapp ((ccllaassss FFoonnttMMaapp))
- To associate the _d_i_t_r_o_f_f fonts with appropriate X
- fonts, this string resource contains a set of new-
- line separated specifications, each of which con-
- sists of a ditroff name, some white space and an
- XLFD pattern with * characters in appropriate
- places to allow all sizes to be listed. The
- default fontMap is:

- You can use any ditroff output file with _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w_,
- although files which use the fonts appropriate to the
- fontMap will look more accurate on the screen. On servers
- which support scaled fonts, all requested font sizes will
- be accurately reflected on the screen; for servers which
- do not support scaled _x_d_i_t_v_i_e_w will use the closest font
- from the same family.
