  8. Lynx is a fully-featured World Wide Web (WWW) client for users running
  9. cursor-addressable, character-cell display devices (e.g., vt100
  10. terminals, vt100 emulators running on PCs or Macs, or any other
  11. character-cell display). It will display Hypertext Markup Language
  12. (HTML) documents containing links to files on the local system, as
  13. well as files on remote systems running http, gopher, ftp, wais, nntp,
  14. finger, or cso/ph/qi servers, and services accessible via logins to
  15. telnet, tn3270 or rlogin accounts.  Current versions of Lynx run on
  16. Unix and VMS.

  18. Lynx can be used to access information on the WWW, or to build
  19. information systems intended primarily for local access. For example,
  20. Lynx has been used to build several Campus Wide Information Systems
  21. (CWIS). In addition, Lynx can be used to build systems isolated within
  22. a single LAN.
