  19. It's a picture and html document database for CAB. It uses the
  20. html commands to sort your files.

  22. * For what can I use Alta Lista?

  24. You can make a list of all your html files in a specific directory.
  25. With Alta Lista you'll always know what title the page has,
  26. what it's about and how long it is.
  27. Another reason are the graphic CDs. Alta Lista can make a list of
  28. all GIF, JPEGs, IMGs & PNGs and will show them in a shrinkened version
  29. on one page.

  31. * How can I start Alta Lista?

  33. Double-click on the program icon or rename it to ALTA_LST.ACC and
  34. copy it on your boot partition.

  36. * Where are the dialogs?

  38. I kept this old question although you can forget it now - Alta Lista
  39. has now a menu bar and a windowed alert! However it is not a full GEM
  40. environment with thousand of dialogs. But they were necessary to use
  41. Face Value and that's the reason why the program size increased
  42. enormously. 512 KByte Atari users - please go and buy a memory
  43. expansion! If you want to use it with a half mega byte, please remove
  44. all accessories

  46. * Alta Lista has problems with its file selectors!

  53. Use Selectric (or a compatible file selector) and select the  files  you
  54. want in your list. Alta Lista is since v1.1 Selectric compatible!

  56. * Alta Lista seems to be very slow.

  58. Alta Lista needs to remove the HTML instructions from the files  to  get
  59. the pure text for the description file 'alta_d.htm'. But now you can
  60. stop Alta Lista during it's work: Simply click on "Cancel" while the
  61. process dialog (title: "Alta Lista is working....") is displayed.

  63. To display the HTML files as fast as possible, use Netscape or Webspace.
  64. CAB is slower than Webspace but the display quality is better.

  66. * Shareware/Freeware?

  68. Alta Lista is generally Freeware. That means that you can copy it for
  69. everyone without charging money from it.
  70. An exception are people who use it commercial e.g. to make HTML files
  71. for the picture folder of a CD-ROM. They have to pay for the program
  72. (it is only a small amount, like a Shareware fee). If you have questions,
  73. mail me and I will answer quickly.

  77. Publishing this program on a CD/Coverdisk is only allowed with my
  78. written permission (via e-mail).

  86. 2) This program is inspirated by the web search-engine 'Alta Vista'.
  87.    The file 'alta_d.htm' looks a bit like the screen that Alta Vista
  88.    shows after having found a topic.
