  5. The GEM DESKTOP only appears  when Edith is used as  an
  6. application. (But see the details for turning it off at
  7. the end of this page).

  9. It shows an  Edith logo, has a  menu bar and  a set  of
  10. function keys.  Clicking  on the function  keys on  the
  11. desktop is the  same as pressing  the keys  themselves.
  12. Move the function key box  around by clicking the  left
  13. mouse button on the pads left  of F1 and right of  F10,
  14. holding the mouse, and dragging the box along.  It will
  15. move immediately as you move the mouse.

  42. TURNING OFF THE DESKTOP and THE DESKTOP ROOT PATTERN

  44. Normally, when Edith is  launched as an application,  a
  45. desktop is installed. When -nodesk is passed on Edith's
  46. command line, no desktop and no menu is installed.
  47.  
  48. Unless MiNT  is used,  the  background pattern  of  the
  49. desktop is  copied  from the  application  you  started
  50. Edith from.  When -noprev  is passed  to Edith  on  the
  51. command line, a solid green/grey desktop is used.

  53. The desktop pattern set in Atari's NEWDESK file manager
  54. can, unfortunately, not be copied by Edith.
