  5. THE ASCII TABLE DIALOG is invoked from the Options menu
  6. or by pressing ⇧^A.  It gives an overview of the  Atari
  7. ASCII character set.
  8.  
  9. CLICK ON A CHARACTER to insert it into a text.
  10.  
  11. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TEXT using the pull down menu  below
  12. the character set.

  15. ALTERNATIVE METHODS to get characters not available  on
  16. the keyboard are:
  17.  
  18.    1. While working  in a  text window, hold  down  the
  19.       ALTERNATE key, type a decimal  ASCII code on  the
  20.       numerical  keypad, and  release  alternate.   The
  21.       character corresponding  to  the  ASCII  code  is
  22.       inserted into the text.

  24.       ** This works for all  versions of the  Operating
  25.          System.

  27.       ** The ASCII  code  of the  character  under  the
  28.          mouse pointer is displayed in the ASCII  Table
  29.          dialog.

  31.    2. (dead keys) Press control plus a special code for
  32.       an  accent,   then  type  a  letter.   If  it  is
  33.       available, the letter  and  the  accent  will  be
  34.       combined.  For  a table  of these  codes see  the
  35.       printed manual.
