- Calamus SL/98 Epson printer drivers February 1999
- ==========================================================================
- These drivers are placed in the Public Domain.
-
- Here are two drivers for the Epson line of Printers. What do they do? For
- one thing they will driver ALMOST all the Epson line of printers, but they
- do not access 1440 mode. This doesn't mean that much. 1440 mode is
- accomplished by half stepping the vertical run and printing a second row
- of dots underneath the first. It's very similar to software interpolation
- and actually provides only a minimal increase in resolution. If you use
- the Star Screening Module of Calamus you will achieve much better results
- at 720 then 1440 from Quark Express. SO much for that.
-
- What are some of the limitations. The latest Epson printers can print with
- a much broader print band then my driver will allow. This will not affect
- normal printing but on some Epsons you will have what appear to be thin
- lines in certain parts of the image. This will not happen with the
- majority of printers. Other limitations are that printers such as the
- Epson Pro, Pro XL and the 3000 are front loading machines. These drivers
- will only print letter size pages from these printers. To gain access to
- larger page sizes you will need to purchase a driver from Adaquite
- Systems.
-
- Both of these drivers access the super-microdot. In fact, you have no
- choice in the matter - Unlike the drivers that come with Calamus, where
- you only had the larger dot size, my drivers only give you the microdot
- size - You'll enjoy the difference!
-
- Finally, the SLOW driver will have a sleightly better quality then the
- Fast driver, but you may not even notice the difference.
-
- Other then the above this driver should be able to drive all other Epson
- printers at all the page sizes I provide. However if they don't, well the
- cost of the driver was nothing so....
