  1. Autolabel
  2. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  3. Autolabel is a utility for use with Papyrus by R.O.M. Logicware.
  4.  
  5. Autolabel automatically sets Papyrus to print self-adhesive labels or 
  6. similar items such as business cards.
  7.  
  8. The program is supplied with a database of Avery labels designed for 
  9. Laser and Inkjet printers.
  10.  
  11. The files AUTOLAB3.PRG, AUTOLAB.RSC and AVERY.DAT should be placed 
  12. into the same directory as Papyrus and its .INF file.
  13.  
  14. You must use Autolabel BEFORE starting Papyrus. If Papyrus is already 
  15. running, close it down before running Autolabel.

  17. Run AUTOLAB3.PRG
  18.  
  19. The file AVERY.DAT is automatically loaded, although other database 
  20. files may be selected if and when they become available. 
  21.  
  22. Enter the type of label you wish to use then select SEARCH. Note that 
  23. the search is case-dependant.

  25. The database will then be searched for the label type and the result 
  26. displayed in the box below. Although the box only shows four entries, 
  27. up to 50 'hits' may be displayed by using the up and down arrows.

  29. Most label types appear in the database at least twice, with data for 
  30. the label sheets in both Portrait or Landscape orientation. Click to 
  31. select the data you wish to use.

  33. You may now click on the 'Modify' button to update your PAPYRUS.INF 
  34. file to include the new paper format.

  36. You may then leave Autolabel or return and select another label 
  37. format.

  39. NOTE - IN CASE OF PROBLEMS, AUTOLABEL CREATES A COPY OF YOUR OLD 
  40. PAPYRUS.INF FILE WITH AN .IBK EXTENSION.

  42. Once you start Papyrus, open a new document then select Paper format 
  43. from the File menu (Document menu on Papyrus 5). You should now be 
  44. able to select the label type you require.

  46. IMPORTANT - Later versions of Papyrus may complain that the .INF file 
  47. CRC checksum is incorrect. Papyrus gives you the option of loading the 
  48. file anyway, you should do so then re-save your options to create a 
  49. new corrected .INF file.

  51. When printing labels with Papyrus, each label is treated as a separate 
  52. page. Papyrus automatically formats the labels into the correct 
  53. position on the sheet. This makes it very easy to use Mail-merge to 
  54. print labels from a database.

  56. Note that although Autolabel sets the Paper format for you, you will 
  57. need to set the Page Layout yourself. This normally means altering the 
  58. margins to allow you to place your information in the correct position 
  59. on the label.

  61. The Avery Database

  63. The AVERY.DAT database has been compiled from data supplied by Avery 
  64. with their P.C. software. Any data contained within the database is 
  65. the copyright of Avery Dennison.

  67. In most cases you will select the label by it's reference number, e.g. 
  68. L7414. Note that the letter should be typed as a capital, and there is 
  69. no space between the letter and the numbers. Normally "L" refers to 
  70. laser labels, "J" to inkjet labels and "P" to pin-feed labels.

  72. You may also search the database by using keywords e.g. Cassette or 
  73. Diskette. Autolabel will the display all the labels (up to 50) whose 
  74. descriptions include this word.

  76. The Portrait and Landscape fields refer to the way the data is 
  77. formatted in the database. For most printers you will need to select 
  78. the Portrait option. Autolabel does not change the Portrait/Landscape 
  79. setting in Papyrus.

  88. with your hardware.
