- Autolabel
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Autolabel is a utility for use with Papyrus by R.O.M. Logicware.
-
- Autolabel automatically sets Papyrus to print self-adhesive labels or
- similar items such as business cards.
-
- The program is supplied with a database of Avery labels designed for
- Laser and Inkjet printers.
-
- The files AUTOLAB3.PRG, AUTOLAB.RSC and AVERY.DAT should be placed
- into the same directory as Papyrus and its .INF file.
-
- You must use Autolabel BEFORE starting Papyrus. If Papyrus is already
- running, close it down before running Autolabel.
-
- Run AUTOLAB3.PRG
-
- The file AVERY.DAT is automatically loaded, although other database
- files may be selected if and when they become available.
-
- Enter the type of label you wish to use then select SEARCH. Note that
- the search is case-dependant.
-
- The database will then be searched for the label type and the result
- displayed in the box below. Although the box only shows four entries,
- up to 50 'hits' may be displayed by using the up and down arrows.
-
- Most label types appear in the database at least twice, with data for
- the label sheets in both Portrait or Landscape orientation. Click to
- select the data you wish to use.
-
- You may now click on the 'Modify' button to update your PAPYRUS.INF
- file to include the new paper format.
-
- You may then leave Autolabel or return and select another label
- format.
-
- NOTE - IN CASE OF PROBLEMS, AUTOLABEL CREATES A COPY OF YOUR OLD
- PAPYRUS.INF FILE WITH AN .IBK EXTENSION.
-
- Once you start Papyrus, open a new document then select Paper format
- from the File menu (Document menu on Papyrus 5). You should now be
- able to select the label type you require.
-
- IMPORTANT - Later versions of Papyrus may complain that the .INF file
- CRC checksum is incorrect. Papyrus gives you the option of loading the
- file anyway, you should do so then re-save your options to create a
- new corrected .INF file.
-
- When printing labels with Papyrus, each label is treated as a separate
- page. Papyrus automatically formats the labels into the correct
- position on the sheet. This makes it very easy to use Mail-merge to
- print labels from a database.
-
- Note that although Autolabel sets the Paper format for you, you will
- need to set the Page Layout yourself. This normally means altering the
- margins to allow you to place your information in the correct position
- on the label.
-
- The Avery Database
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- The AVERY.DAT database has been compiled from data supplied by Avery
- with their P.C. software. Any data contained within the database is
- the copyright of Avery Dennison.
-
- In most cases you will select the label by it's reference number, e.g.
- L7414. Note that the letter should be typed as a capital, and there is
- no space between the letter and the numbers. Normally "L" refers to
- laser labels, "J" to inkjet labels and "P" to pin-feed labels.
-
- You may also search the database by using keywords e.g. Cassette or
- Diskette. Autolabel will the display all the labels (up to 50) whose
- descriptions include this word.
-
- The Portrait and Landscape fields refer to the way the data is
- formatted in the database. For most printers you will need to select
- the Portrait option. Autolabel does not change the Portrait/Landscape
- setting in Papyrus.
-
- I can accept no responsibilty for errors or ommisions in this
- database.
-
- Disclaimer
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- This version of Autolabel should be treated as a betatest. I offer no
- guarantees that Autolabel will work with your version of Papyrus or
- with your hardware.
