  3. A) Purchasing <Software to defeat the expiration> to upgrade to a full license
  4.  
  5. The SoftSynthesizer is not sold as a "full commercial version."
  6. After you have tried out the trial version, you may purchase and download a 
  7. Key Program (subsequently referred to as "KeyPRG") which can be installed to 
  8. defeat the expiration date (without un-installing the trial version).
  9.  
  10. Two versions of KeyPRG are available.
  11.  - 20v3key: For the S-YG20 V.3 trial version
  12.  - 50v3key: For the S-YXG50 V.3 trial version
  13.  
  14. "KeyPRG" will work (i.e., will defeat the expiration date) even on an installed 
  15. trial version whose expiration date has already elapsed. It will also work on 
  16. all trial versions that are minor updates (increases in version number below 
  17. the decimal point), so you will always be able to use the latest version with a 
  18. full license.

  25. B) Un-installation procedure
  26.     < Un-installing the SoftSynthesizer >
  27.     1. Click on Start - Program (P) - "YAMAHA SoftSynthesizer S-YXGxxx" 
  28.        - [Un-install S-YXGxxx].
  29.     2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  30.     3. Re-start Windows to complete the procedure.

  32.     For version 3 alone, you can also delete the software using "Add or 
  33.         remove an application."

  35.        Attempting to delete the software in any other 
  36.            way will cause problems!

  40. C) Troubleshooting
  41.  
  42. If due to an unsuccessful installation etc. you are unable to correctly 
  43. un-install the software, you will need to use the following procedure to 
  44. re-install. If you failed in an attempt to delete S-YXG20 or S-YXG50 files 
  45. that you were previously using, you will also need to delete these files.
  46.  (Refer to the online help after installation.)

  49.   Depending on your settings in Windows, files which actually exist may not 
  50.   be shown on the screen. Please be sure to check this. (This setting will 
  51.   not affect the operation of your computer.)
  52.      (1) Right-click on [Start] and select [Explorer]
  53.      (2) From the menu at the top, select [View]-[Options].
  54.      (3) Select [Display all files].
  55.      (4) Un-check the [Don't show registered filename extensions] box.

  61.   1. Select <Start - Find - File or folder >
  62.   2. Type system.ini and press [Enter]
  63.   3. When the search result returns system.ini, press [Enter]
  64.      In the [drivers] section, delete the comment midi#=sxgma.drv  wave#=sxgma.drv  
  65.      mixer#=sxgma.drv
  66.      (If there is no such line, proceed to step 8.)
  67.      (# is a numeral that will differ depending on your computer)
  68.   4. From Notepad, save the file and exit
  69.   5. Exit the search
  70.   6. Select < Start - Shutdown Windows - Restart computer >
  71.   7. Select < Start - Find - File or folder >
  72.   8. Type sxg*.* and press [Enter]
  73.   9. From the search results, select the following files, right-click the mouse 
  74.      and choose <Delete>
  75.      (In some cases, not all of these files may remain)
  76.     sxgma.drv
  77.     sxgapi.dll
  78.     sxgapi32.dll
  79.     sxgcpu.dll
  80.     sxgma32.dll 
  81.     sxgmasys.dll
  82.     sxgmacpl.cpl
  83.     sxgmx.dll
  84.     sxgmx32.dll     
  85.     sxgxg.dll
  86.     sxgxgknl.vxd
  87.     sxgwave2.tbl     (S-YXG50 only) 
  88.     sxgtkbar.exe     (S-YXG50 only)

  90.  10. (S-YG20 only) Press "New conditions," type "sgpwav00.tbl" and press [Enter]. 
  91.      If it appears, delete it.
  92.  11. Exit the search

  96. < If S-YXG50 Ver.1.x - Ver.2.1 is still on your computer >
  97. First execute the procedure ** Checking the screen display ** which was given 
  98. above.

  100.   1. Select <Start - Find - File or folder >
  101.   2. Type system.ini and press [Enter]
  102.   3. When the search results show system.ini, press [Enter]
  103.    - In the [386Enh] section, delete the  device=vswp.vxdü@comment
  104.    - In the [drivers] section, delete the  midi#=sxgb.drv  wave#=sxgb.drv  
  105.      mixer#=sxgb.drv  comments
  106.     (# is a numeral which will differ depending on your computer)
  107.     (Depending on the version, some models may not have the  mixer#=sxgb.drv  
  108.      comment)
  109.     (If neither comments are present, proceed to step 8.)
  110.   4. Save the file from Notepad and exit
  111.   5. Exit the search
  112.   6. Select < Start - Exit Windows - Restart computer >
  113.   7. Select < Start - Find - File or folder >
  114.   8. Type  sxg*.*  and press [Enter] 
  115.     (In the following search we assume that all files remain)
  116.   9. From the search results, select the following files, right-click with 
  117.      the mouse, and choose <Delete>
  118.      sxgb.drv
  119.      sxg05mx1.dll
  120.      sxg05mx3.dll
  121.      sxgbcpl.cpl
  122.      sxgbsys.dll
  123.      sxgwave2.tbl
  124.  10. Type mmx*.*  and press [Enter]
  125.  11. From the search results select the following files, right-click with 
  126.      the mouse, and choose <Delete>
  127.      mmxswp00.dll
  128.      mmx32x00.dll
  129.  12. Type vswp.vxd and press [Enter]
  130.  13. From the search results,  select the  vswp.vxd file, right-click with 
  131.      the mouse, and choose <Delete>
  132.  14. Exit the search
