  2.           IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CD-ROM

  7. OVERVIEW

  10. This is the April 1994 GoldFish (TM) CD-ROM, a 2 CD set containing the
  11. entire contents of the Fred Fish 1000 disk floppy library.  This file
  12. contains important information that applies to this particular CD-ROM, and
  13. points out other important files that you should read.
  14.  
  15. For general information about the Amiga Library CD-ROM's, detailed informa-
  16. tion about the contents of this particular CD-ROM, and other important in-
  17. formation, read the various files in the "Information" directory.
  18.  
  19. Also sure to read the "LEGAL-NOTICE", "COPYRIGHT", "WARRANTY", and "SHARE-
  20. WARE" files, if you have not done so before.  If you plan to use this CD-
  21. ROM in a BBS or anonymous FTP environment, the "BBS/README" file on the
  22. first volume will be particularly useful to you.

  25. CONTENTS OVERVIEW

  28. The first volume of this 2 CD set contains floppy disks 1-1000 in archived
  29. form (5552 archives, 426 Mb), and disks 1-249 in unarchived form (210 Mb).
  30. For each archive there is a "product info" file that contains important
  31. information about the contents of the archive.  For further details about
  32. the structure of a product info file, see the file "Product-Infos" in the
  33. "Information" directory.  For details about how to use the product info
  34. files in a BBS/FTP environment, see the "BBS/README" file on the first
  35. volume.

  37. The second volume of this 2 CD set contains floppy disks 249-1000 in
  38. unarchived form (649 Mb).

  41. RECONSTRUCTING FLOPPY DISKS

  44. The first volume of this 2 CD set contains a program called "PufferFish",
  45. which can be used to recreate verified copies of any of the 1000 floppy
  46. disks in the floppy library, from the archives included on volume one.

  49. LOCATING MATERIAL

  52. Included on volume one are two different programs for finding specific
  53. material, or types of material, that you may be looking for.  The first
  54. program is "A-Kwic", which does keyword searches on a database that is
  55. built from the included product info files.  The second program is a new
  56. beta version of "KingFisher", which is included under the "KingFisher"
  57. directory.  This program also uses a database which is built from the
  58. included product info files.

  60. Eventually there will be databases that cover all of my previous CD-ROM's
  61. and the complete contents of the floppy library.  These will be included on
  62. a future CD-ROM.

  65. LHA ARCHIVES

  68. Many of the archives on this CD-ROM are in "lha format".  The shareware
  69. version of lha is included in the :c directory of this CD-ROM, so all you
  70. have to do to unpack an lha archive is use a command of the form:

  72.     lha -mraxe x archive.lha
  73.  
  74. Please consider registering with the lha author, Stefan Boberg, for the
  75. latest version of lha, so he can continue to support this fine program.

  82. more useful for users.  It is particularly important at this stage that I
  83. get feedback from users about problems that need fixing, or suggestions on
  84. how to make the CD-ROM more useful.
