..I'm just watching "A life less ordinary" with Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz, and first i could
SWEAR I heard a few notes of "Out there somewhere", but that was just a few seconds (just
before the fat guy visits their hideout!) and then a few minutes later they definately played some
20 seconds of "The Box" pretty silently in the background (When Ewan McGregor notices the
"bomb" in the trunk!)...

So, that adds one more to orbital's already impressive list of movie scores...
Here's the ones i can personally remember right now at this moment:
- -Mortal Kombat
- -Johnny Mnemonic
- -Hackers
- -A life less ordinary
..alot more that i can't seem to remember right now! <:-)

Is there something like a list of all Orbital moviescores somewhere on Loopz or elsewhere?
If not, how about compiling one? ;-D

Well I've got some new [old]things I could mention...

    Carl Craig's "Music about Food, Art, and Revolution" [i think from 98!]

    Craig Armostrong - Ambient theme music for a movie called "Plunkett and
MacClean"
        [i finally saw the movie with Liv Tyler {Aerosmith's daughter}
        about a colonial era 'Gentleman Highwayman', which is based on a real
person.
        But my wife and i who watch every historical movie made, thought it so
weird
        to hear techno fading into the 18th century. I'm sure the UK directors
were
        trying to bring the past into the present reality, but doesn't work
well on americans
        who can't easily make these relative leaps in time. We're still to new
to it all]

    Queens of the Stoneage - Bombastic So.Cal punk metal. Really fun and lead
singer
        dude was just arrested at Rock in Rio3 festival for walking out on
stage naked.
        Imagine Rio De Jinero enforcing nudity laws!?!

    Asie Payton - "Worried" [from FatPossum.com records in Oxford,
Mississippi]. any of
        techs who want another taste of real US Delta blues, this guy is/was
it. This disc was
        made from 2 4-track demo tapes. Asie passed away of HA, farming on his
tractor before
        they could get back in the studio. RL Burnside on the same label is
great too
        and still with us and out on tour I believe.

    Shemekia Copeland - "wicked" This is Aretha Franklins heritage. She's a
gospel girl
        gone hard.

    Kitka - If you ever heard of Bulgarian Women's choir? These are Oakland,CA
gals doing
        more. They recently were first non-Bulgarians to sing in a major folk
festival there.
        God this music haunts me and pulls my heart from my chest and makes it
hover around
        the room.... :)

DK, how could you forget the Saint?  They were also on Spawn as a collab,
can't remember who with, Kirk Hammet maybe?  And there's the Wipeout XL/2097
soundtrack, even though that's a game and not a movie.  And come to think of
it, didn't they have a track or two on Pi?


And OK, I cheated for this one, but CDNow.com also lists the "Groove"
soundtrack under them.

Michael Kamen probably wrote most of "Event Horizon"...

...In this month's "Future Music" they discuss the idea of wanting to wite a
whole soundtrack themselves... Now, that would be good!

BTW, they also mention in that mag, that they've sampled bits of Ian Dury's
"Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" on one of the songs for the new album!

Also, another mag lists the new single as being released next month? Steve -
any official news yet?

Well... Some of the new album is obviously right there and none of you guys seemed to realize
sofar! <:-)
Or what would you Guys think the "Tension" and "Tootled" Tracks from the London Arena
bootleg on Randy's server are? <:-) Come to think of that: Benjib. where on earth did you get the
tracknames from?
I dunno what to think of these... Nice, but I guess they have to grow on me first...
Tootled: Orbital with heavy guitars? Hmm, haven't heard this since Kirk Hammet! <:-) But not
bad..
Tension: I don't like it to be honest... Too much chaos in the song... No clear line throughout the
song, just a Didgeridoo and a bunch of other instruments all playing together, the Rhythm being
the only proper recognizable thing throughout the song!.. But i could imagine this to be great in
live performances! 8)

Let's get it on, boys, we get an exclusive preview right there! ;-D

I have heard both of these songs before.  Tootled I heard on a real audio
file of Paul Hartnoll doing a dj set.  Surprisingly the cheap real audio I
heard sounded more 'hard' than the live version from London.  But they both
sound great.  I really like that song a lot!

Oh yeah thank you very much for these boots they sound GREAT!!  I'm used to
really poor sounding bootlegs (taped from the audience).

I first heard Tension from Napster.. The live version seems to be longer
than the version I got from Napster.  I'd have to say I liked the Napster
version (doesn't sound live) for this one but it's essentially the same
track.  Maybe it's because I heard the Napster version so much I memorized
where pieces come in and drop off and it's different on the live version.
It's pretty chaotic and different I can't wait to hear the CD version.

There is also another track floating around on Napster called Last Thing.
I'm not sure if this is confirmed to be Orbital but it sure sounds like it.
I think it's the best song of the bunch and sounds more like what we've
grown to love.

I am real excited about the new album I'm sure it will be AMAZING.  The
three tracks I've heard so far sound great to me!

pls dont upload anything commercially available onto the server - it will
kill it far too quickly
even if it may be rare (ive seen all of the orbital early release for sale

Meltdown would be nice!  If you got any other boots of good quality go for
it!

Live from the Seattle Train Station from 96 is uploaded but be sure to
download the tracks that say (RETRY) at the end if there are duplicates.

I plan to put some I got off the net (John Peel Radio 1999, Alexandra Palace
New Years 1996, Leeds 1996 [it's already on the site isn't it?], and
Worcester England if anyone wants it.. it sounds awful) in the next few
days.

Thanks to all involved in this.. it's a dream come true for Orbital fans
(with fast connections at least).
