It seems like a good choice, no? well, it says that it is a 30 day trial version, but is that really true? If I just not register it can I use it forever? Some of them aren't that way, so I was wondering. Is there a free "real" version that I can get? Pressure of Speech? Are these bands I should look at? absolutely!!!!!!!!! (at least for plaid, don't know about the other one.) If you don't have "Not for Threes" you are missing out on an absolutely gorgeous record. IMHO ranks up there with anything Orbital has done - and I know there are quite a few people on this list that think highly of it as well. Its similar to orbital in being ambient techno with beautiful melodies, wonderfully interesting, sometimes off-the-wall rhtyhms and the occasional haunting vocal :) They have a new record, "Rest Proof Clockwork" - haven't heard this yet (its on order), but I've heard very many good reviews of it and almost no bad reviews... Oh yeah all of the above also applies to any stuff by Black Dog, its mostly the same people anyway - Black dog was 3 guys, they split up, with 1 keeping the name Black Dog, and the other two are now known as Plaid. I've been re-listening to all my Plaid & Black Dog stuff lately in anticipation of getting the new LP, and re-discovering how much I love all of it :) Regards, Aronne # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Jul 1999 13:35:02 -0700 (PDT) From: Brandon Invergo <kwikyslush@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: (orbital) Hard to Find CD's > Radiccio/Halcyon --- $9.99 What version is this? probably the one with halcyon, the naked and the dead, and sunday. chance are that it's not the halcyon ep, since that's been deleted, and i'm pretty sure that they re-released radiccio (with the red leaves) at some time in britain. > Lush 3 --- $9.99 What tracks? lush3-1 to 5 (lush3-1 and 2 off of the brown album, and, for you american fans, all of the remixes on diversions) > Are We Here ? --- $9.99 Again, what tracks? since this is probably an american company (currency is in $), it's probably the US version, which i believe has all rabbit on the moon remixes, though i'm not sure since i only have the UK version > Limited/The Guide (?) --- $9.99 What the hell is > this? wasn't this just some promo in a magazine or newspaper or something? > Peel Sessions --- $26.99 Is this worth it? i'm betting that they're referring to the australian import that is the brown album on one disk and peel sessions on another. $26.99 is pretty expensive for that (i got mine for $18.99 at some shop in minnesota), considering all you're getting is semi-detatched and attached mixed and with some new samples (everything else is on diversions) and some new art on the disks (disk one is the head of the body in the liner notes, and disk two is the heart). hoped that helped, otherwise you can kick me brandon _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The WipeOut XL CD is probably the best bigbeat jump point I've seen. It has b-sides I spent months finding, including both UW's Tin There and their remix on Leave Home. Atom Bomb, We Have Explosive, Firestarter (instrumental is the only way it should be), PETROL, and a bunch of others. Too bad I saw this after I found most of the songs already. But if you're convincing somebody to get into techno, I'd say this CD and some Orbital would be a good start. - -- Brendan Byrd AKA SineSwiper (sineswiper@resonatorsoft.com) Computer techie, PERL hacker, and all-purpose Internet guru Resonator Software (http://www.resonatorsoft.com/) # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jul 1999 07:52:41 PDT From: "Robert Schultz" <rschultz7@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: (orbital) wipeout 3 and Orbital I have to go with Know Where to Run for the game. Matador records does very cool stuff, like releasing=20 "Stay Down" and "Bag of Blue Sparks" by 2LS on one CD -=20 so it ends up costing you about half the money... and they=20 even put a nice 30 sec gap between the 2 on the CD to separate=20 the two releases. anyway you can order ep7 direct from Warp for not too much (I just=20 checked and its 7 GBP, so thats not too bad.) or www.yalplay.com has it for 3.90 GBP (hey, BTW I should mention=20 that they apparently aren't charging shipping until Aug.8! check out this Email I got back from their customer support : Excerpts from mail: 9-Jul-99 RE: shipping rates by Yalplay C.
