Hi folks,

Apparently the recored Orbital performance was braodcast on BBC Radio1 early
on Sunday morning between 4:30am and 6-ish (ridiculous, i know). Was anyone
mad enough to stay up and catch a good quality recording (prereably
MiniDisc)?
I'd be interested in a trading if it was a decent set, anyone know what they
played........?

My friend sayed that he say a trak or 12" called Orbital vs underworld
"Tribal Gathering"  Does anyone know what this is?  He thinks that it's a
trak they they teamed up on.
Also, are the Gecom ep's still being printed?  I have looked far and wide
for them and cannot find them.  Even in stores that have shit like Midnight
EP and the On remixes and pretty rare shit like that.

What a set! It was worth staying up all night for. I got home from a wedding
at 2.30am and stayed awake (just) to tape the set from Annie Nightingales
show and YES, YES I managed to get Dr.Who on tape at last! You guys that
were at Glastonbury, I am so jealous! I'm interested to know how long and
what tracks were played as it was definitely not the full set. On the radio
broadcast, they played Style then went off for an encore then played Satan,
Dr.Who and Chime so I am sure they would have played alot more before the
encore. Please enlighten us when you return! Does anyone know if there are
any plans for the Dr.Who track. They also showed Dr.Who and Chime on the TV
broadcast last night on Beeb 2.

you should be able to get Ska10 this & that, and the Motor EP.
those are pretty recent and might still be in print, but are at least
available. You'll have to mail order, check bent crayon
(http://www.bentcrayon.com) or s://kimo (no website, E-mail
at [e-mail]; I know he did get a restock of both Skam 10's
a few weeks ago, but I don't know if he still has them)

The others are much older and pretty much all out of print - you'll
have to find a kind soul to trade you a copy (or CDr copy or something)

Oh yeah I'll also warn you that the Motor EP not at all your typical
ae or gescom sound. Very detroit / minimal techno sound. I still like
it, but a lot of people don't like that one.

maybe something to do with the 'Tribal Gathering' compilation which I
recall is listed at Hard To Find as by Orbital/Underworld/Prodigy or
something like that. Maybe it was a promo with Orbital and Underworld on,
just a guess though. I recall the tracks on the compilation weren't at all
rare so if I'm right, it's probably hardly worth chasing for.

The nearest to that I know of is the UW remix of Lush.

All,

just got back from sunny Glastonbury.

I am a physical wreck (blisters over my feet, legs ache, dirty, smelly, lack
of sleep) ...so before i head off to a well earned rest...just got to say
that the Jazz World stage couldnt have been any more packed than it
was...the crowd stemmed back to the outside pathways...and they were well up
for a good time.
The sound was impressive considering the sound engineers had no monitors
until Halcyon came on. Their was no other problems...and the crowd reaction
at Glastonbury was as ,expected - MAD!

Off to bed - excellent weekend :)

I'd like to know whats actually out there, I have Sculptured (LP), Notions
of Tonality (EP), and there is Utuba on AI2. And theres Texturology which I
havn't...and is there two versions of this LP both that look very similar ?
I really like everything he's done...I have the same problems with finding
it, wish I could help.

Anyone know much about Coil ? The did an album called 'loves secret
domain', very experimental, innovative and quite strange ! Some of what
they have done is *very* impressive though and the last thing I heard they
were working on an album called energy is eternal, but it doesn't seem to
have appeared....

Good to see the recommendations, I havn't got much I could add really. The
Trance Europe Express 1-4 (Volume) and Ambient Dub Volumes 1-4 (Beyond)
were highlights for me, as far as compilations go, and the Artificial
Intelligence (AI) series from WARP. The Ninja Tune label have been putting
out some great stuff also, I think..but this tends towards hip hop and drum
and bass so it's not for the electronica purist if there is such a thing -
but 'BioRhythms' [1] on Network records would be and that is possibly my
all time favourite compilation LP !  I also really like Meat Beat
Manifesto, 'Subliminal Sandwich' was one of the more recent LP's..worth
getting especially if you can appreciate the more experimental side of
music like Aphex Twin etc...theres lots of things, I don't want to bore you
all to death though. :-)

I hope people don't get sick of hearing about Plaid now...I picked up the
new LP and I think it's wonderful. :-) I'm no good at reviews but on the
whole it's a lot more fun than the first LP, while still being complex and
subtle but not just for the sake of it - there is a lot of deep feeling
too, 'Buddy' is my favourite track at the moment I was honestly moved by
this record, and it's hard to pick favourites from the rest they are all
good - I have the same 'problem' with Orbital too, makes it really hard to
choose a top ten... :-) I'll be coming back to this record for sure.

Any reviews of Orbital at Glastonbury ? Any bootlegs ? <smile>

i heard sasha/digweed's "expeditions" and thought it was way too
lightweight. but i've heard good things about their northern exposure
stuff. what should i buy?

can somebody explain why it is nearly impossible to find ae's lp5, but i
see ep7 in every record store i go in? does that makes sense?

sorry, i'm feeling fidgety cuz i've been looking for music all day and
can't seem to find anything i like. arg...

By all means get Seb Fontaine's double mix cd, Prototype.  First disc is
hard and snappy techno trance, second has upscale melodic or progressive
trance.  Superb.  It's an English import but it's only $16.99 at CDNow.
For what it's worth, they have some real audio samples at:

Also look for the Platipus Dream Collection comp, and the Platipus
Collections 3 and 4.  No one has higher production values than the

Actually, this CD is so reasonably priced because its not an import-but is distributed in
the US by !K7 Distribution.  You should be able to find this in any store that carries
releases by Studio !K7 or Good Looking Records.

Just download that little *.ram file to your computer.
Then open it with your favourite's text editor (i.e. notepad in windows or simpletext in mac).
Then, you will see the location -called 'url'- of the file you want to download.

If the file you want is very bIG (Megabytes) , you will probably may use some download softwares like 'getright' who are very useful, because you can download the file at 'pieces'. "One day a bit, tomorrow another bit", and so on.

Don't know if anyone else was lucky to have caught this footage, but BBC
Choice showed most of the last 40 minutes of the Orbital set on Sunday
night and it was truly splendid, especially when you see the
tracklisting :

Nothing Left
Style / Bigpipe Style
Satan
Dr Who (!)

They played about 4 minutes of Dr Who but then cut back to some other
band. Big shame really. Needless to say the whole set is on MD if anyone
wants a trade (no CD-R's or tapes)...

pvd? lighweight!
yeah, i think i know what you're looking for. keep an eye out for lab4's
neurocide, the escape from samsara album, anything mixed by choci or mark
sinclair. if you want it harder, look for some stuff by the liberator djs,
like "it's f*cking avin' it 2", or stuff mixed by fury, energy or sharkey.
i think it's widely accepted that london is the leading edge for trance,
which works out quite well for me :)

platipus is lighter than oakenfold though - ideal for chilling out and
snoozing to, but too slow to dance to. i'd recommend it, but not if you're
looking for something hardish.

Not really!  Where I live (Vancouver), LP5 is everywhere, but I have yet to
find a single copy of EP7. Strange!

XFileget .. www.2bsys.com will fetch RealAudio.. even if it's a redirect.
It will also tell you what the 'true' URL of the file is.

Another quick note about 2bsys.. they also make a RealAudio to .wav
converter.  The last version I tried absolutely destroyed the dynamics of
the song.  A loopback recording would sound much better.

Subject: (orbital) Glastonbury - sun, blisters and a packed Jazz World Stage

All,

just got back from sunny Glastonbury.

I am a physical wreck (blisters over my feet, legs ache, dirty, smelly, lack
of sleep) ...so before i head off to a well earned rest...just got to say
that the Jazz World stage couldnt have been any more packed than it
was...the crowd stemmed back to the outside pathways...and they were well up
for a good time.
The sound was impressive considering the sound engineers had no monitors
until Halcyon came on. Their was no other problems...and the crowd reaction
at Glastonbury was as ,expected - MAD!

Off to bed - excellent weekend :)

something like that. Maybe it was a promo with Orbital and Underworld on,
just a guess though. I recall the tracks on the compilation weren't at all
rare so if I'm right, it's probably hardly worth chasing for.

Hey,

I have been frantically searching for The Freestylers "we rock hard" on
vinyl.  I was told by someone that they weren't going to be pressing
anymore, but he wasn't completely certain.  Can anyone tell me if this is

catch Orbital, is there anyone else going to that show who would be
interested in a meet up?  Also,  what's the venue like?  Is it general
