- Subject: (orbital) my encounter with Style
-
- Yesterday night I was out with my gang, first having some drinks and then
- going for some pizza. Having no idea what to do next (we were all in a
- shitty mood) we decided to go to the Hard Rock Caffe (!). There was
- this TV on a shelf behind the bar, and the instant we walked in I looked at
- the TV and saw the logo "MTV" in the top right corner. I was just making a
- comment on how this didn't seem appropriate and this video was starting...
- the camera was flying up to a window of a building, from outside. Then the
- video title went up..."Orbital - Style - Middle Of Nowhere". I almost went
- beserk...."JEEEEZZZZZ TURN THAT UP I CAN'T HEAR A
- THING !!!!!!"... and the stupid bartender said 'No, can't do - the TV stays
- on mute'. I was standing there, watching the video and imagining the
- music, while on the other hand I was giving bartender an ugly look... just
- to let him know i hate him.
-
- So the rest of the night I was really hyped up. When I got home
- I connected to the net before going to bed, just so I could download
- the full Style video from Steve's site. I now have it on my account, just
- need to leech it home, BUT i also did a wild orbital search on some
- mp3 search engines and Hexaphim's site came up. Guess what?
- I found the Style EP there :)) Now I downloaded it, and can't wait to
- hear it, but I can't wait to get my hands on the actual Style cd(s) too.
- Oh man... the Style fever has got me too.

- I expected Steve was going to break the news to the list, but since he never
- did, Plaid will support Orbital at every UK date. Info at Loopz of course.

-
- Hey peeps
-
- On the moby mailing list i'm on we've been having a discussion about how
- Much Music (the canadian version of Mtv) only plays one hour of electronic
- music a MONTH! That's right. One hour a month. R U Receiving?, their
- electronic music showcase is on once a month on friday nights at midnight.
- How insane is that? Anyway, I thought that people on this list might want
- to voice their support as well, to try and get rur on every other week.
- even if you're not from canada, feel free to email much music at
- muchmail@muchmusic.com and let them know that electronic music deserves
- more airtime! i have yet to see the new orbital video on much, and they
- just finally played the new moby video, eventho its been on Mtv sooooo many
- times already! blah. so if you have a few spare minutes, write much music
- and tell them how you think rur should be on more often! peace.

- I have the new Mixmag and the article is about their influences and how they
- got started. Says almost nothing about the album except that it has a
- happier danceable sound. It is compared to brown except more eperimental by
- today's standards. The main focus is on Underworld who are on the cover.
- This is the first Mixmag that I've ever boughten and I am quite impressed.
- You Brits have quite a different style (and not to forget the most amazing
- DJ lineups. Remember, your locals are our headliners in Vancouver)
-
- Also have to brag about a purchase that I made today. Picked up the Orb's
- little fluffy clouds remixes on vinyl. Haven't been able to listen to the
- whole thing yet due to a lack of turntables. However, I will have some
- soon. But in the meantime, theis vinyl is taunting me. Damn it!
