This and that last message that caused a lot of flames that i kinda
started over the summer about taking orbital out of the techno section...
Seems like so off the topic debates start because i mention briefly
something the least bit controversial... someon asked Y metal kids are so
into electronica. I mentioned a lot of ppl lately have embraced the rave
scene as an excuse to do drugs nd everyone had to throw their two cents in
one drugs no matter how far off the previous toic it was :)... i mentioned
earlier about taking orbital out of the techno section because more ppl
that hated "stereotypical techno" would have a chancet to find out about
orbital and it turned intoa  huge debate over wether or not labeling was
right... totally off the original topic but ppl had o get their two cents
in on this topic. I encourage you ppl to read a  post THOUROUGHLY and try
to understnad it completely b4 responding. Just because someone says that
ppl who say "DRUGS SUCK and so do ppl that use them" are narrow minded
doesn't mean that he's saying that ppl twho choose NOT to do drugs are
narrow minded. there's a big difference :)...

So leave it! You can't go changing everything to suit your opinions. I'm
sure that you could learn to deal with things like this without being

Which makes it all unrelated to a persons integrity. If it WAS thier
intension, then you'd have a viable arguement.

It is disputable, because if it weren't illegal you would see a sisable
drop in drug related crime. If it were regulated, like alcohlo is, then it

big enough problem with that to make alcohol illegal, so why discriminate?

     heroine. I still think about him, but now I know better. They never

Woohoo.

Good point..... What do drugs have to do with the music?  I don't do
drugs, and I'm not planning on doing them.  I hate 'em.  And I still love
music.  I'm not trying to be a preachy little kid... but when you see
your friends slipping away 'cuz of drugs, it really hurts.  When you
think the guy you're dating is really great.. it hurts to find out about
his drug use.  I still cry when I think about all the needle marks in
Richard's arms and the first time I saw where he hid all his shit.  The
guy was fuckin FIFTEEN years old and a heroin addict.  What the fuck is
wrong with this world?

    As much as that first message annoyed me, I couldn't help chuckling
at this one... You're certainly entitled to your opinion.  I'm
actually glad you feel so stringly about it, even though I disagree.
At least you have put enough thought into it to form an opinion and
you stand by it. That I can respect. What I didn't agree with was the
way you chose to phrase some of the comments. I'm not in the
mood to get into a flame war over differing opinions, I just felt I

Is it just me, or do the people that are adamantly for or against drug use
seem to be younger than those that have more of a live and let live
attitude? When I was younger, I was VERY against drug use. I was
"XStraightXEdgeX" for Christ's sake (very few straight edgers in my town
stay Straight Edge past 22). But when I got older I started experimenting
and I have found that all of my previous theories were flat out wrong.

I was just over there at the studio last night playing records with Scott's
girlfriend so i can tell ya':
I'm not too sure about what Ken listens to, but Scott is into really funky
breaks.  Here's some of the stuff on their shelves:  Lunatic Calm, Fat Boy
Slim, Rockers Hi-Fi,...When he spins, it's like a really strange mix of
kickin' trance, funk, and really random stuff all thrown in.  I don't think
they have a lot of time to listen to music these days - they are ALWAYS on
the road.  Their studio looks like a total space-pod control station,
though.  And they're pretty cool guys.

They are part of an incredible US tour that start early February - and I
urge everyone to see it.  The line up is BT, Taylor, Crystal Method, and one
or two more DJ's for parts of the tour.
I have the tentative schedule, if anyone wants to know if they are coming to
their town...i also review them in my website, and there is a link to their
tour dates, etc.

the drug discussion again! -- did you people know that there are
whole newsgroups devoted solely to the issue?  Oh well, at least it

If anyone would like a cool and horrifying depiction of a rave scene
really described well (the author went to a few CA raves
himself for research) -- check out Koontz's DRAGON TEARS.  Very good
stuff.  He gets down to the very essence of it all.

Well, this here cocaine addict has been clean and sober for just over
100 months...(for those too stoned to do division, that's eight years,
four months).  I was nearly dead. I had nothing, materially or
spritually.   Most significantly, I no longer had music as part of my
life, even though I started my piano lessons when I was four, majored in
music at a univeristy for a year, and had been in some of Seattle's top
bands in the early eighties (before the grunge explosion thing).

Since getting clean I have:

Earned two college degrees (the second of which with a 4.0 GPA)
Working on my third degree, and on the quarterly Dean's List this year
and Annual Dean's List for last year at University of Washington.
Released two CDs.
Been gainfully employed in the music industry as an Audio Engineer and
Electronics Technician.
...A LIFE.

...to name just a few of the changes in my life...

Some of us DO change.

Once I needed a pic or a logo of Fluke and searched around, and suddenly
found this page I really thought kicked ass. It had EVERYTHING about
Fluke. Sorta like what Loopz has for Orbital. The URL for it in my bookmark
is http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/5444/Fluke.html but I haven't
been there in a long while - and I do hope it's still up.

I myself would also recommend Risotto and the Squirt single (Slid and
Squirt are my all-time Fluke favs.)

Btw, you said you got 6 wheels on my wagon. Ever noticed how "Make
mine a 99" is a lot like Underworld's "Cowgirl" ? Or I imagined it.
And if I did, seems I also imagined that u-Ziq's "Brace Yourself Jason"
from Lunatic Harness resembles Sunscreem's "Chasing Dreams" from O3.
And, 808 State's "Joyrider" from Don Solaris resembles a lot to Graham
Massey's mix of FSOL's "Papua New Guinea" -- but this one figures
because of Massey.

And for something Orbital related... I got a videotape of Orbital performing
live on MTV's Partyzone (dunno which year). It rocks as I have never seen
them shaking their stuff before. Also, it is not my tape -- and I really
want to have this recorded. So instead of copying the videotape I am going
to take a different approach...since I have a TV tuner card I am going to
record the performance to an .AVI with the highest quality possible and
then encode it to MPEG video - and burn it all on a CD. I expect the total
size of the MPEG(s) to be between 200 - 250 Mb, maybe 300.

Oh yeah, some of you might be interested in what they played... :-)
First there was Forever, its mixed in with Sad But True; then Impact
mixed in with Remind, and after that Are We Here? + Attached.

 To all of you who are feel that their opinion on this drug issue is =
 correct, shut the fuck up!  I am so sick of reading messages from people =
 putting down other people because their opinions conflict.  This is both =
 stupid and immature.  It is very hard to change a person's opinion so =
 stop trying.  You feel your right, so hold your opinion but quite =
 pushing your values.  It seems that about every 4 months we have to go =
 through this stupid drug shit on this list.  Why?  it never goes any =
 where.  So let's end this shit now before you guys destroy the unity =
 that the list holds.  We are united on this list because we all like =
 Orbital.  We are not here to bitch about drugs.  So can we get back to =
 musical talk now.

i agree this list is going nowhere. I've only been on here since if i can
remember when the show amp started. when was the last time i got a piece of
mail about Orbital? why am i getting all this mail about drugs? i don't
care. i've got some questions that have to do with music, but not Orbital
cause i think every possible relevant question that i want to know about
Orbital has been answered.

    does anyone know if that is Jesse Jackson speaking on the Crystal Method's
"keep Hope Alive"? i saw the video last night and it didn't sound like him,
but when i listen to the cd it's JUST like him at times and my next age old
question does ANYONE have ANY information on the group ACEN?
