From: Brandon Invergo <kwikyslush@yahoo.com> Subject: (orbital) he he Date: 05 Dec 2000 16:51:34 -0800 (PST) i'll keep this short cause, as usual, it's off-topic. i was roaming through the old vinyl section of our campus radio station, and, lo and behold, i found the original vinyl of underworld's "change the weather" (i think that's what they were called). wow. that's all i can say. wow. they are the *worst* 80's rock band i have ever heard. at least, back when they were an 80's rock band. terrible. ugh... talk to everyone later. have fun...don't die. brandon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It's awesome, but it's such a tease. It's only 4 songs and one is one of those interludes that are all over music has the right. Kid for today is absolutely amazing and it's about time they release it. I hope they are planning another album really soon. It's been a while since music has the right came out. Another really interesting point that many of you probably did not now about Boards of Canada. A lot of there music is guitar based or created by conventional instruments like pianos. After they record everything, they aplly heavy effects and the end product is that warm yet cold sound that is Boards of Canada. Even their first ep's, back in 1990 (I think) were totally guitar based and they even had a vocalist which is pretty odd. And, if you listen to each ep, over time they have gradually gone from a more rock, alternative sound to a more electric sound. Oh, in case any of you didn't know, BoC realeased I think 5 ep's before Music had the right to children. This does not inlcude the singles for the album either. Unfortunately, they were all limited to like 100 copies. I would give my right arm for an ep of their's called Twoism, but I can't find anyone who has it. anyway, just thought someone might be interested and there isn't anything else to read on this list right now, so enjoy the knowledge. take care kevin # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Patrick McGinn" <pmcginn@earthlink.net> Subject: Re: (orbital) New BoC (OT) Date: 09 Dec 2000 22:02:32 -0500 > either. That's pretty much the going price for it :)) Last one I saw (well, not that I actively track these things :)) went for $325 in an auction on IDM-L. That was about a year ago, and was run through some guy's web page (e.g. not on eBay, home of the criminally insane + wealthy.) The MP3s are around though, but they're not the same thing are they? I don't share your taste for Twoism, but I'd sell some body parts on the black market for a copy of Jega's SKA006 E.P. (His newish album, Geometry, is highly recommended. I saw him play some of the cuts live in NYC not too long ago as part of the SIN Fest, and man, it was amazing. Would've made my year to see him do Bluette live though.) _Pat McGinn # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "kevin gomes" <kevin.gomes@home.com> Subject: Re: (orbital) New BoC (OT) Date: 10 Dec 2000 15:50:04 -0800 > The MP3s are around though, but they're not the same thing are they? I have mp3's of this and the SKA009 ep and they are both amazing. Some of the best music that I have ever heard. However, I gave the albums a quick listen and thought that they did not even compare to these two ep's. The albums, I find, are rather dull, but I know I should give them a better listen. I like Oak Hangar off of 009 more than bluette.
