Hello, here then is my submission. Sorry about the time, but I was gone all
Labor Day weekend.
In the past, the Elves inhabited the lands here, as did a race of men
called the Anzarin. Anzarin in their native Tongue (Anzarin), means,
you guessed it, the people. Then the raiders came, and with them,
the colonists. As the great city they called Tabolport grew the
Anzarin were pushed back into the woods, their copper and bronze tools
and weapons of little use against the steel of the invaders.
But the Anzarin are adaptable, they learned the ways of the invader,
and determined to continue to fight, using his own weapons against
him.
The Anzarin are a group of culturally related tribes, analagous to
American Indians at the time of the expansion into America. They have
formed an alliance to push the invaders back out to sea.
Their tactics are many-fold, primarily though:
a) Choke overland trade with guerilla tactics and raiding
b) Foment what discontent they may in the city
c) Attempt to play the various factions in the city off against each other
The Anzarin have strong ties to the land, this manifests itself in a
smallish but powerful group of Shamans and Elementalists. These wise
men are also high in the ruling cliques of the Anzarin. There are
some of these men, as well as a great many warrior agents all moving
through the city.
It is fairly well-known to scholars and the like, that the Anzarin
beleive that the city is also disrespectful and blasphemous, as it is
built on sacred ground. What it is unknown is why it is sacred and
exactly where.
A closely guarded secret, known only to full-blooded Anzarin, who are
highly placed in the Anzar hierarchy, is the actual location in the
city of the sacred ground. The sacred ground is the burial place of
generations of important Anzarin. Other mages know of the importance
and power of Anzar remains, and a trade in these artifacts has sprung
up, but only a few Anzarin know the whole truth.
The whole truth is that the entire city is laced with these burial
locations, but the highest concentrations lie in the Merchants
Quarter. The Anzarin underground has, over the course of many years,
managed to buy a four square block area over this major grave-site.
They have, of course, used many blinds and false names, so that it
ought to be damned near impossible to find out that one group owns it
all. This are is the nerve center of the Anzarin operations, and due
to its location, any assault on it will be very difficult as the
Shamans may draw on the powerful relics below. Similair points have
sprung up all over the city on other gravesites, and a large part of
the undergrounds effort is locating and taking control of any sites
they find.
