  11. Burns:  Why did you come to the Isle of Wight?

  13. Dylan:  I wanted to see the home of Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

  15. Burns:  Why?

  17. Dylan:  Just curious.

  19. Burns:  Can I have your general views on the situation of drug taking among
  20.         teenagers and young people these days?
  21.  
  22. Dylan:  I don't have any of those views ... I wish I did, I'd be glad to 
  23.         share them with you, but I ... I think everyone should lead
  24.         their own lives you know.
  25.  
  26. Burns:  You used to, I believe, make public pronouncements on your views
  27.         on things, like Vietnam, and it has been noticed in certain quarters
  28.         you haven't been doing that recently, making your views known on big
  29.         political and international issues. Is this deliberate policy 
  30.         on your part?

  32. Dylan:  No ... I think that's more a rumor than a fact. You check your
  33.         old newspapers, you won't be able to find too many statements I've
  34.         made on those issues.

  36. Burns:  I've heard it said here today by some of your fans that the new
  37.         Bob Dylan is a bit of a square ... Is that true?
  38.  
  39. Dylan:  You'll have to ask the fans (amidst general laughter)

  41. Press:  Do you feel that your days of protesting are over?
  42.  
  43. Dylan:  I don't want to protest any more. I never said I'm an angry young man.

  45. Press:  Can you tell us exactly what happened when you suffered
  46.         an accident a while ago?
  47.  
  48. Dylan:  Rikki ... where are you? ... (silence from Dylan for a moment)
  49.         It's true I suffered a broken neck. It's awful hard to explain.
  50.         I have to take it easy sometimes.

  52. Press:  Bob.

  54. Dylan:  Yes, Ken (general laughter from press).

  56. Press:  Do you think you have changed very much since we last saw
  57.         you in London? Your clothes and hair have changed?

  59. Dylan:  I believe there's a conscious thing since the accident.
  60.         I haven't really changed ... It had more to do with the show
  61.         I was doing than anything else. It really had nothing to do
  62.         with me personally ... that stuff was all for publicity.
  63.         I don't do that kind of thing any more.

  65. Press:  Can you tell us what songs you will be performing?
  66.  
  67. Dylan:  Everything we will do is on record. I'm not going to sing
  68.         anything new ... Things you will have heard before but with
  69.         new arrangements

  71. Press:  Because of your lack of public appearances, do you 
  72.         still like doing shows?
  73.  
  74. Dylan:  We appeared a month ago in St Louis ... the more shows the better.

  76. Press:  Who are you looking forward to meeting while you're here?

  78. Dylan:  I'm hoping to meet anybody who's around. I'd like to meet
  79.         The Who and maybe Georgie Fame.

  81. Press:  What about the Beatles?

  83. Dylan:  George Harrison has come to visit me. The Beatles have
  84.         asked me to work with them. I love the Beatles and I think
  85.         it would be a good idea to do a jam session.

  87. Press:  What about reports that various people will perform with you on stage?
  88.  
  89. Dylan:  Great, great.
  90.  
  91. Press:  Do you feel that cameras are like guns?
  92.  
  93. Dylan:  I don't know.
  94.  
  95. Press:  Do you feel this change that has come over you and your
  96.         music is due to domestic effects? Are you chiefly a family man now?

  98. Dylan:  I would think so.

  100. Press:  There is a very large crowd expected here for your performance.
  101.         Any comments on that?

  103. Dylan:  I just hope it's a good show.

  105. Press:  Do you have a personal message for the kids today?

  107. Dylan:  Take it easy and do your job well.

  109. Press:  What exactly then is your position on politics and music?

  111. Dylan:  My job is to play music. I think I've answered enough questions.
