  26. With King Richard off to the crusades,Edmund comes across evidence that
  27. casts doubt on Prince Harry's stature as next in line to the throne.
  28. 5. Witchsmeller Pursuivant (1495)
  29. Edmund gets accused of being a witch by a witchsmeller (Frank Finlay).
  30. 6. The Black Seal (1498)
  31. With the help of the "six most dangerous men in England", Edmund
  32. attempts to take over the throne.

  60. that Edmund owes.

  62. Edmund has his Aunt and Uncle Whiteadder over for dinner, as well as
  63. hosting a drinking party at the same time.
  64. 6. Chains       ( Feb 20, 1986)
  65. Edmund and Melchett are kidnapped by a German (Hugh Laurie) who plans
  66. to overthrow England's Queen.

  94. dictionary. which accidentally gets used for firewood. Edmund must re-
  95. write it before Dr. Johnson finds out.
  96. 3. Nob and Nobility ( Oct  1, 1987)
  97. The Scarlet Pimpernel is the talk of London, much to Edmunds chagrin.
  98. He is captured by French revolutionaries and held captive. Tim
  99. McInnerny and Nigel Planer guest as Lord Topper and Lord Smedley.
  100. 4. Sense and Senility       ( Oct  8, 1987)
  101. The Prince Regent enlists the aid of two actors to help him write a
  102. speech. But are the actors really anarchists?
  103. 5. Amy and Amiability       ( Oct 15, 1987)
  104. The Prince is low on cash and Edmund sets out to find
  105. a suitable dowry for the Prince Regent to marry. Amy Hardwood (Miranda
  106. Richardson) looks to be the answer.
  107. 6. Duel and Duality     ( Oct 22, 1987)
  108. The Prince Regent "soils" two of the Duke of Wellington's (Stephen Fry)
  109. nieces and is challenged to a duel.  Edmund volunteers to fight for the
  110. Prince and attempts to get his cousin, McAdder to fill in for him.

  160. Edmund is assigned to find a spy in a hospital, which has a beautiful
  161. nurse (Miranda Richardson) and a man with a strong German accent called
  162. "Smith".

  164. The big push is coming, so Edmund goes mad.  Will a last minute call to
  165. Field Marshal Haig (Geoffrey Palmer) save him?
  166. Misc Notes on The Black Adder
  167. The four series and the Christmas special aired on cable's Arts and
  168. Entertainment network (A&E).  The Black Adder II episode "Beer" did not
  169. air on A&E as well as the Black Adder The Third episode "Nob and
  170. Nobility".
  171. Each episode in the first series varied in length (30 to 34 minutes),
  172. while the episodes in the other three series ran 29 minutes each. The
  173. Christmas special ran 45 minutes. A&E edits the episodes to 22.5 minutes
  174. to make room for commercials with 45 seconds edited out of the Christmas
  175. special for some unknown reason.
  176. The syndicated order of the episodes in the first series is based on
  177. the date given in the episode, not on the episode number which appears
  178. onscreen with the title. Thus, the second and fourth episodes ("The
  179. Queen of Spain's Beard" and "Born to be King") are switched, running
  180. fourth and second.
  181. Black Adder II and Black Adder the Third each won the cable ACE award
  182. for best comedy series. The third series also won an ACE award for
  183. costume design.
  184. All four series and the Christmas special are available to PBS stations.
  185. Some stations have not aired "The Archbishop" while other stations have
  186. skipped  over "Beer". "Nob and Nobility" is not available due to some
  187. legal problems concerning the copyright of the name "The Scarlet
  188. Pimpernel", the episode is available on home video, though.
  189. CBS/Fox has released two "Blackadder III" tapes in the US with the first
  190. tape containing the first three "Black Adder the Third" epsiodes ("Dish
  191. and Dishonesty", "Ink and  Incapability", and "Nob and Nobility") and
  192. the second tape containing the other three episodes ("Sense and
  193. Senility", "Amy and Amiability", and "Duel and Duality"). List price
  194. is $14.95. The first series has been released by CBS/Fox on two tapes
  195. at a price of $19.98 each with three episodes per tape in the
  196. syndicated order.
  197. All four series have been released in the UK by BBC Video with
  198. "Black Adder: The Cavalier Years" appearing on a UK Comic Relief tape
  199. "Exclusive Relief" and "Blackadder's Christmas Carol" being released
  200. seperately.
  201. "Blackadder Goes Forth" is the last series according to Richard Curtis
  202. and John Lloyd in an article in The Times in Nov '89. Rumours of a
  203. "Blackadder Five" with Edmund the manager of a Britsh rock group with
  204. drummer "Bald Rick" is nothing more than a joke mentioned in that
  205. article.
  206. Since the end of Black Adder (additions welcomed):
  207. Rowan has been producing a series of "Mr. Bean" shows, which will air
  208. on HBO starting in February along with an in concert comedy special.
  209. Two "Mr. Bean" segments have been re-filmed for distribution as short
  210. films, the first of which, "Mr. Bean Goes to a Premiere", has been
  211. distributed by 20th Century Fox.
  212. Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie have been making their own TV series
  213. "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" for the BBC plus several series of "Jeeves
  214. and Wooster" for Independent Televison in the U.K., the first series of
  215. which has aired on Masterpiece Theatre in the U.S.
  216. Ben Elton has produced one series of "The Man From Auntie" for the BBC.
  217. Tony Robinson has produced two series of "Maid Marion and her Merry Men"
  218. for the BBC.
  219. Richard Curtis has written "The Tall Guy".
  220. Tim McInnerny has been in "Erik The Viking", several productions of "The
  221. Comic Strip Presents" on the BBC, the Kate Bush Video for "This Woman's
  222. Work", and played Dr. Frankenfurter in a British Stage revival of "The
  223. Rocky Horror Show".
