  1. Setting up Mail and News for Zipcon

  4. Netscape 2.x and 3.x:
  5.  
  6. Step I:
  7.   1) Start Netscape.
  8.   2) Select the "Options" menu.
  9.   3) Select the "Mail and News preferences..." menu item.
  10.  
  11. Step II:
  12.   1) Click on the "Identity" tab at the top of the window.
  13.   2) Fill in the "Name" field with your real name.
  14.   3) Fill in the "E-mail address" field with your e-mail address.
  15.       Your e-mail address is your login name with "@zipcon.net"
  16.       for example:  john@zipcon.net

  18. Step III:
  19.   1) Click on the "Servers" tab.
  20.   2) For incoming and outgoing mail (SMTP, POP or POP3) server, put in
  21.      "mail.zipcon.net".
  22.   3) For News (NNTP) server, put in "news.zipcon.net".
  23.   4) Fill in the "User name" field with your login name, not your real name.

  25. Step IV:
  26.   1) Click on the "Organization" tab.
  27.   2) Check on the "remember password" box.

  29. You can now read your mail anytime by selecting the "Windows" menu, and
  30. the "Netscape Mail" menu item.

  32. The zipcon.local newsgroups:
  33.  
  34. Please try to read the "zipcon.local" newsgroup for announcements and what
  35. is going on.  You can read newsgroups by selecting the "Windows" menu, and
  36. the "Netscape News" menu item.  Then click on the "default news host" on
  37. the left window area.  Use the scrollbar to go to the bottom of the list.**
  38. Select the "zipcon.local" newsgroup.  The messages will appear on the right
  39. hand side of the window.  Click on the messages to read them.

  41. **You may have to select the "Options" menu and the "Show all newsgroups"
  42. menu item to get the zipcon.local group in your list.
