  385.             Well, its a new year. Close enough anyway. Five and a
  386.             half hours by my count, and with this new year I have
  387.             something to announce.
  388.             <br />

  390.             FINALLY after all the talk and ideas and time I am
  391.             launching my next step into the web which is in the
  392.             form of a brand new site called fifty foot shadows.
  393.             <br />
  394.             <br />
  395.             The new site will be a replacement to twistedsun.net.
  396.             Thats right, this marks the end of an era. 8+ years of
  397.             twistedsun will be coming to a close with this new
  398.             year. I feel as though it has run its course. Time and
  399.             time again I have wondered what I should do with the
  400.             site and time and time again I have found myself
  401.             disappointed in some way with the result. The new site
  402.             will be very similar in its content in many ways.

  404.             <br />
  405.             There will still be desktops published for everyone,
  406.             and there will still be music discussed and stories
  407.             told. The difference is in the name and the approach.
  408.             Everything will be centralized and brought into one
  409.             single blog space. Sections will be deviled simply
  410.             using categories and the design will be fresh, empty,
  411.             and easy to navigate.

  414.             I feel that everything around me is changing in my life
  415.             and so I found it appropriate to start completely fresh
  416.             this year. I am really happy with the new name and I
  417.             hope everyone likes it! It came to me earlier this year
  418.             while traveling out west and I think it is just what I
  419.             was looking for. At one point I really wanted to turn
  420.             it into a community of desktop posters I find that I
  421.             just can not devote the time into moderating such a
  422.             site.

  425.             My focus this year is in taking big steps forward and
  426.             changing the way I live it. Also, for those of you
  427.             wondering, no, twistedsun.net is not going anywhere. It
  428.             will be staying as it is in its current state for the
  429.             foreseeable future so everyone can get at all the
  430.             desktops and posts from the past. All new content,
  431.             however, will be posted on the thew site.

  485.             Hello! I am alive and well and have been trying to get
  486.             a post out forever now it seems. I finished my europe
  487.             trip and am safe and sound here at home again. The trip
  488.             shook me up and I have been buried in thought since my
  489.             return.
  490.             <br />
  491.             <br />
  492.             The reason for the non posting is because my laptop
  493.             decided to stop working for me half way through my trip
  494.             and although I have this computer I am writing on now
  495.             (mac mini) I am still not all the way settled into this
  496.             and probably wont be as I see myself getting another
  497.             laptop early next year after we see what macworld may
  498.             bring us.

  500.             <br />
  501.             In other quick news, I have decided that twistedsun.net
  502.             will be going through some changes in the new year. In
  503.             fact, I have something totally different in store. Ok,
  504.             not that different but more simplistic for me to use
  505.             and post to. The goal is to make it as effortless as
  506.             possible to post new desktops and news and musings on
  507.             life. It will most likely take the form of a new site
  508.             all together which I had other plans for but have
  509.             decided to simplify for the sake of getting something
  510.             new rolling along.
  511.             <br />
  512.             <br />
  513.             Don't worry, I have countless images for desktops and
  514.             when the new site is functional you will hear all about
  515.             it here and hopefully the transition will go as
  516.             smoothly as possible and the future is bright.

  624.             Its been three nights here in London now and waking up
  625.             today I could be excited. I could be nervous. I could
  626.             be lonely already. Im not really sure what it is that
  627.             is stirring in my mind but I am getting ready to head
  628.             out to central london again to see what I can find
  629.             today. The last two days have been filled with people,
  630.             art, and sound as I walked and walked... and walked
  631.             around the city in various areas. Taking whatever
  632.             random turns seemed to look interesting. I figure with
  633.             all the trains around its hard to really get lost
  634.             because I can always catch one back somewhere familiar.
  635.             London has been interesting, familiar but distant when
  636.             I choose to really pay attention to the people around
  637.             me. Its strange though because I feel at home but also
  638.             far away. I feel like I have always existed here and I
  639.             am simply walking though some distant, forgotten
  640.             memory. Im curious to see what kind of differences I
  641.             come across as I visit other countries and break away
  642.             from the comfort of everyone around me speaking
  643.             english. Im wondering how I will react to everything I
  644.             encounter.

  647.             Anyway, as time goes on and the jetlag finally leaves
  648.             my blurry mind I will try and write more here in this
  649.             space as well as get some desktops up perhaps. I just
  650.             have not had the free time to commit to doing it. I am
  651.             traveling so all I have is free time but I feel like I
  652.             should be using that time for exploring and doing what
  653.             I came to do which is to get lost in the flutter of
  654.             local life. So thanks for reading and check back

  689.             Well, this month was a crazy one full of work and
  690.             planing and more work. There has been a serious lack of
  691.             activity here on the site and Im sorry for that, I have
  692.             just been that busy this month. It was all for one
  693.             reason and that is because I am traveling to europe. I
  694.             mentioned this before on the site a while back and the
  695.             time has come. I leave for London tomorrow! It's
  696.             strange, it doesn't feel like I am about to leave on a
  697.             month long trek through Europe. Im just sitting here
  698.             surrounded by all of the things I am taking which
  699.             turned out to be a surprisingly small amount of stuff.
  700.             Just the basics really. Sorry, my mind is kind of
  701.             fragmented at the moment after this month. There is so
  702.             much on my mind!
  703.             <br />
  704.             <br />
  705.             OK, on to the details. I will be starting in
  706.             London/England (arriving on the 23rd) and I will be
  707.             leaving on the 31st for Paris where I will stay for 6
  708.             nights. After Paris I will be heading south to Italy to
  709.             a village called Vernazza which is part of the Cinque
  710.             Terre and I will stay in that area for 6 nights. After
  711.             this I will head to Nice/Menton for a couple of days
  712.             hopefully but this depends on weather or not I can
  713.             arrange a night train from Nice to my next destination,
  714.             Barcelona. If all goes according to plan I hope to be
  715.             able to go directly from barcelona to a city nearby
  716.             called Girona. At the moment I am booked there for two
  717.             nights in an amazing little B&B and I may extend my
  718.             time there depending on how I like it.
  719.             <br />

  721.             From here I will head to Granada or somewhere in that
  722.             area of Spain and then make my way up to Madrid on the
  723.             21st and fly out of Madrid on the 22nd.
  724.             <br />

  726.             Sounds simple enough right? Well, all in all I am
  727.             fairly calm about it all and I am hoping that it all
  728.             goes smoothly enough. If you are in any of the areas I
  729.             will be traveling feel free to send along an email and
  730.             maybe we can get together.

  786.             A few days ago I came across a really interesting blog
  787.             service and jumped right on in. I have been looking for
  788.             something like it for quite some time. A simple
  789.             interface to allow me to catch images and links in a
  790.             really quick and basic way. Images that somehow stop me
  791.             from scrolling for a minute and get me to imagine,
  792.             think, or whatever else. The service is called Tumblr.
  793.             Its a basic blogging service with a slick little
  794.             javascipt that allows you to catch an image within a
  795.             page and quickly add it to your tumblr blog along with
  796.             a link to where it came from. It's great really and
  797.             will give me a place to come back to look over found
  798.             images for inspiration and whatnot. I think I will
  799.             eventually tweak the CSS and get settled in a bit more
  800.             but for the time being its perfect for my needs. I
  801.             would recommend this to anyone and everyone. If you do

  850.             desktop page for your desktop needs. I know I have not
  851.             been posting as much lately and that is mostly because
  852.             I have been spending so much time getting my head
  853.             around this trip to Europe I have been planing. I have
  854.             narrowed it down to a handful of countries and now I
  855.             just have to pick a few places to travel to along the

  894.             At least I hope to be going. In October/November. SOON!
  895.             Im not sure how it happened but the time of the year
  896.             that I promised myself I would travel in is quickly
  897.             approaching and I am starting to get a bit more serious
  898.             about plans for the trip. I have been trying to get
  899.             used to the idea that I will be throwing myself in an
  900.             area I don't know much of anything about. It's both
  901.             exciting and greatly intimidating. I am working on
  902.             making it work financially and logistically and so I am
  903.             writing here for a call on advice/ suggestions.

  906.             <strong>I know there are plenty of readers around
  907.             europe or have traveled there in the past and it would
  908.             be greatly appreciated if you could take a moment and
  909.             suggest some places to visit, and maybe just some
  910.             general advice about traveling there.</strong>

  913.             At the moment I am thinking of starting off in Spain or
  914.             somewhere in southern France, heading up through
  915.             France, and ending up over in England. At least thats
  916.             the vague overall idea. It will be just me and my
  917.             backpack for the most part and I hope to do a good
  918.             amount of camping to save on money spent on Inn's. In
  919.             fact, thats the number one concern is working out what
  920.             I can expect as far as where to sleep and how much its
  921.             going to cost to do so. I hope to have the overall
  922.             layout of places to travel to before I leave so I can
  923.             work out train tickets and transportation while I am
  924.             there.

  928.             enjoy myself, meet some new people, take a few zillion

  988.             Unbelievably simplistic, helpful, and gorgeous all at
  989.             once. Its a clock that simply shows the time. I know
  990.             that sometimes flashy oooooohhhhh and aaaahhhhhh type
  991.             screen savers can be fun but I find them distracting
  992.             recently. There will always be a place on my screen for
  993.             the ever wonderful and unpredictable <a href=

  1015.             something quite the opposite. A lush colorful and
  1016.             undeniably addictive visualizer for iTunes called
  1017.             Magnetosphere. Its pretty fun to put on during casual
  1018.             music listening or for a break from the usual email and
  1019.             work you usually might see on your screen. There is not
  1020.             much I can say about the visualizer other than that it
  1021.             is amazing and you should head over to the developers
  1022.             site and download it or at least watch the video which
