I just recently got back into Ngmoco's <a href="http://werule.ngmoco.com/">We Rule</a>. It's probably the pinnacle of the "freemium" genre on the iPhone so far. It's free to play, very social, and very much based on timed "check-ins," where you set crops to grow and then come back in a few hours to harvest them. It puts in little blips of gameplay that move you towards a larger progress goal.</p>

In fact, our own Victor Agreda <a href="http://www.tuaw.com/2009/01/30/whats-in-a-name-on-the-app-store/">foresaw this problem</a> a while back, and now it's popped up on Apple's radar.</p>

Although the vulnerability affects all the platforms on which Adobe Acrobat and Reader run, the current exploits in the wild target only Windows. To be safe, rely on Apple's Preview, Smile's PDFpen, or another PDF application until Adobe closes the vulnerability with a 4 October 2010 release.

And the free 888 FaceTime number Apple created to let customers FaceTime with some stranger employed by Apple? I never bothered to try it out. After using it, though, I realize I was wrong. <p>Apple announced on Monday that it will be releasing the Wi-Fi models of the iPad in China on Friday, September 17th. The iPads will be available from Apple Stores and selected Apple Authorized Resellers in the country, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time.</p>
<p>Per <a href="http://www.macworld.com/article/154044/2010/09/wifi_ipad_china.html">Macworld</a>, prices will start at CNY3988 (US$589) for the 16GB model, CNY4788 (US$708) for the 32GB model, and CNY5588 (US$826) for the 64GB model. Apple Stores will offer a Personal Setup service as well as hold iPad workshops to help buyers get familiarized with the device.</p>
<p>There is no word, however, as to when the Wi-Fi + 3G models will arrive in China. The C7 becomes a more affordable alternative to the soon-to-ship N8 and has a smaller 3.5-inch AMOLED display with the use of newly developed ClearBlack Display technology; like Samsung's Super AMOLED, it's claimed to provide better visibility in bright sunlight where most OLEDs wash out. <p>Over the weekend, shareware developer Maintain released version 4.7.7 of Cocktail (Snow Leopard Edition), <a href="http://www.maintain.se/cocktail/index.php">Cocktail</a>, the popular shareware utility program that allows for additional Mac OS X system tests. The new version, a 2 megabyte <a href="http://usa.maintain.se/CocktailSLE.dmg">download</a>, adds the following fixes and features:</p>
