"While we think Apple will sell between 1.0 million to 1.5 million iPhones in the first three days (including pre-orders), the actual number is largely irrelevant," he writes. "Apple is tapping into the global consumer spending sweet spot, mobile, and as a result iPhone numbers are going higher in the coming years."

Marshall says Apple's international carrier partners offer a postpaid subscriber base more than six times larger than AT&T, the exclusive wireless carrier of the iPhone in the U.S. Despite that, international sales in calendar year 2009 represented only 60% of total units sold, so there's nowhere to go but up, up, up.</div></div></span>

In fact that represents a drop of about one million compared to the fourth quarter of 2009, but seasonal sales cycles always produce lower results in the first quarter of any year compared to the previous quarter; according to senior analyst Michael Morgan, “Normally we would see a much greater decline in shipments in the first quarter," he says. "The fact that the drop was so relatively small highlights the continuing dynamic growth of the smartphone market."

"People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a press release. "We're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month."
Apple says developers have created over 11,000 new apps for the iPad that take advantage of its Multi-Touch user interface, large screen and high-quality graphics. Plus, the device will run almost all of the more than 225,000 apps on the Apple App Store, including apps already purchased for an iPhone or iPod touch.

Based on data compiled from over 25,000 3G and 3GS iPhones covered by SquareTrade since 2008, the study found that 25.6% of the devices experienced a failure in the first two years, compared to 33% in 2009.  
 
The improvement in iPhone reliability was driven largely by the 3GS model’s substantially fewer touchscreen failures than the 3G. Of the total failures, 18% encountered damage due to accidents and another 7.5% were hardware malfunctions. When the data is projected out three years, up to 40 percent of 3GS iPhones are expected to experience some type of failure.

° The two-year malfunction rate (non-accident) decreased from 10% in June 2009 to 7.5 %.

The latest version is compatible with FileMaker Pro 11.
A fully functional demo version of Troi File Plug-in 5.0 is available for downloading at Troi's web site (http://www.troi.com/software/fileplugin.htm). Troi File Plug-in 5.0works with FileMaker Pro 9.x, 10.x and 11.The plug-in can also be used with runtimes from FileMaker Pro Advanced 9 x and 10.sx. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher, Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and Windows Vista. QuickTime 7 or later is needed for some image related functions.
Licenses cost US$89 per user. Details on developer licenses and multi-user discounts can be found on the Troi web site.</div></div></span>

° Quebec: Quebec City (one location);
° British Columbia: Richmond Centre (Richmond; one location);
° Ontario: Upper Canada Mall (Toronto; one location);
° Alberta: Chinook Centre and Southgate (Calgary/Edmonton; two locations).
The Southgate Apple Store location has already opened (on May 28). Currently, Apple has 15 retails stores in Canada.</div></div></span>

The company sent out official Shipment Notification e-mails, along with Federal Express tracking information, to those customers over the weekend. Fed Ex tracking documents show that the devices are being shipped directly from a facility in Lantau Island, Hong Kong.
"We are pleased to inform you that your iPhone 4 has shipped," the e-mail states. "Please check below for your confirmed delivery date. If you ordered more than one item, they may ship separately."</div></div></span>
<span class="field-content"><div class="body-row" id="body-row-188421"><div style="background:#F5F5F5;">Zevrix Solutions (http://www.zevrix.com) has released LinkOptimizer 4.4, an update of its workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. The new version lets users process monochrome black-and-white images (bitmap mode in Photoshop). The target effective resolution for such images is set separately.
LinkOptimizer lets you reduce InDesign job size and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data and performing essential image adjustments.
LinkOptimizer Light 4.4 can be purchased from the Zevrix Solutions web site for US$259.95 , as well as from authorized resellers. LinkOptimizer works with Mac OS X 10.4.2-10.5 and InDesign CS-CS4.
Version 4.4 is free for LinkOptimizer 4.x users and a $98.98 to upgrade from previous versions. A demo is available for download.</div></div></span>

The upgrade fixes a few bugs and imports many core updates from other CNS plug-ins.
A 30-day demo version of SMTPit Pro is available from the Comm-Unity Web site. A single user license for SMTPit Pro is US$65. To use the Server Edition of SMTPit Pro, you will need to purchase at least a 10-User License. A 10-User License is $319. Version 4.1.12 is a free update for registered users of version 4.x.</div></div></span>

(http://www.mac.gettranslateit.com/) for Mac -- a multilingual dictionary that allows looking up words on the fly -- has been updated to version 12.5. The upgrade works with Safari 5, Firefox 3.6 and Thunderbird 3 and is compatible with the Mac OS X built-in Parental controls.
A plug-in for working with Google Chrome is available. TranslateIt! 12.5 adds WAV file support for the Speak feature (in addition to the MP3 support.) Also updated is teh Contextual menu plug-in for 32-bit applications, German localization, LetsMove smart installer and TranslateIt! widget.
With TranslateIt!, you hover the pointer over an unfamiliar word (in any Cocoa Aapplication), and you will see its translation in a pop-up window. It comes with several free dictionaries for a large number of languages. TranslateIt! supports translation from/to any language (corresponding dictionaries must be installed), English sounds (it contains over 17,000 English words pronunciations) and printing of flash...</div></div></span>

This version, the first new full-featured font creator in more than a decade, is specifically designed for use in a graphic design and digital publishing workflow.
Fontographer has been almost completely rewritten, with new features, a new look, and new compatibility, according to Adam Twardoch, Fontlab’s product and marketing manager. The new design is aimed at making life easier for the graphic designer and desktop publisher, who are constantly under pressure to do more in less time, he says.
In this vein, the graphical user interface has been modernized, but functionality like keyboard shortcuts and menu choices haven't been changed. The most notable of these is a file disguised as the iPhoto application which, when launched, lets attackers send spam, take screenshots, access files, and more.
"Our guess is that the Apple marketing department couldn't find a positive light to spin the new OS enhancement, so it was conveniently left out of the patch notes," "Maximum PC" says. "Cnet pointed out, and we agree, that Apple's ongoing refusal to acknowledge security flaws in its products exposes users to greater danger since they are lulled into a false sense of security."

Apple stock hit US$275 before pulling back slightly to $273.61. For the year, the shares have jumped about 30% as the company has seen strong demand for its new iPad tablet computer and anticipation for iPhone 4, notes "MarketWatch." Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research have target prices on Apple ranging from $280 to $350 a share, with a median price of $325.

With this in mind, Fidacaro is raising his iPhone numbers from:
° 7.8 million to 9.4 million for the third quarter;

FlightCheck is a prepress application used to manage printing quality control for print jobs. This solution provides both a native file and Adobe PDF preflight check. It's designed to help users scan and prepare PDF and other document types for commercial printing.
The software upgrade of FlightCheck Professional 6.75 for Macintosh is available immediately. You can upgrade to FlightCheck Professional from version 5.0 through 6.1x for US$99. And it's released an accompanying, free Find my iPhone app. However, contrary to some rumors, Apple is not offering MobileMe for free.
The revved MobileMe sports an updated version of Mail Web with a tweaked interface that offers widescreen and compact views. Other changes include server-based rules for sorting messages, better SSL security, an enhanced formatting toolbar, better junkmail filtering, and the ability to send mail from an external address.
The MobileMe update also tweaks the interfaces for Calendars, Gallery, iDisk and Find My iPhone. All now feature Mail’s top bar of iPad-ish button. The separate buttons for each MobileMe Web app have disappeared.
The Find My iPhone app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad on Friday offers MobileMe users a dedicated interface for tracking down one of the devices, if it's lost, when they’re away from their computer.</div></div></span>

The second new release is called "Cubase 401: Mastering in Cubase." This tutorial is produced by one of Steinberg's very own Cubase Product experts, Matthew Loel T. Hepworth. In this three-hour tutorial, he shows how to utilize the mastering plugins including compressors, mulitband compressors, EQs, limiters, and maximizers.
