<p>New release builds on Server Extensions, File Transfer, Chat features, and<br />
OS Updates.</p>
<p>Irvine, CA - October 30, 1998 - Spider Island Software,<br />
<a href="http://www.spiderisland.com" title="http://www.spiderisland.com">http://www.spiderisland.com</a>, announced today that version 5.7 of its highly<br />
rated TeleFinder Internet BBS Server is shipping now.</p>
<p>TeleFinder v5.7 extends its use of server side Apple Scripting to automate<br />
file transfer and new user processing. The client side features a rich set<br />
of chat extensions. File Transfer speed has been optimized for fast network<br />
connections, and is up to four times faster than previous versions.</p>
<p>The new version also includes a free "PowerKeyTickler" plugin that<br />
integrates TeleFinder with Sophisticated Circuits PowerKey Pro Server<br />
Restart option to insure maximum server uptime. </p>
<p>BBS SERVER<br />
System Operators can implement "Back End Automation" using the new<br />
"ProcessFileTransfer" server extension. Using AppleScript, C/C++, or other<br />
scripting software, this feature makes it easy to integrate incoming files<br />
into a business workflow.</p>
<p>There is also a new extension interface for scripts and 3rd party software<br />
to add automation in the creation of new user accounts.</p>
<p>MACINTOSH BBS CLIENT<br />
The TeleFinder v5.7 Macintosh adds the ability for users to create "Chat<br />
Bots" using the Apple Scriptable Chat Extensions.</p>
<p>Using Chat Extensions users can create client side custom loggers, add<br />
spelling correction, "twit" filters, fortune tellers, online help and more.</p>
<p>Version 5.7 also supports user definable file transfer "Helpers" using the<br />
MacOS 8.5 Internet Control Panel data, or an application specific database.<br />
file transfer Helpers process files after successful downloading.</p>
<p>This version now includes it's own File Transfer Log to record the results<br />
of all file transfer activity on the client side. Adds ability to use Chat<br />
Rooms in any part of the BBS. Includes support for MacOS 8.5's Navigation<br />
Services.</p>
<p>File Transfers using TeleFinder's high speed "Background" protocol can now<br />
recover from broken connections without data loss. The Background protocol<br />
has also been optimized to get the full benefit from T1 or better<br />
connections.</p>
<p>WINDOWS BBS CLIENT<br />
In TeleFinder v5.7 the Windows client is now 32 bit native for Windows<br />
95/98 and NT. The new version adds long filename support, the new Windows<br />
File Browser, and 32 bit networking. TeleFinder/User for Windows also<br />
includes it's own File Transfer Log. Integrated "Thumbnail" viewer for JPEG<br />
files no longer requires the additional QuickTime for Windows<br />
installation. Adds ability to use Chat Rooms in any part of the BBS.</p>
<p>WEB SERVING<br />
The Web Server is optimized for Open Transport 2.0, and is now capable of<br />
serving in excess of 17 million requests per day. TeleFinder v5.7 also adds<br />
new options available in the Active Pages including sorting of directory<br />
listings and support for the CGI "Query String" parameter.</p>
<p>The Web Server also prevents "dead listeners" by monitoring the state of<br />
the TCP-IP link and resetting TCP-IP when it detects a failed link. The<br />
server's log can now be rolled over on a predefined interval.</p>
<p>MODEM SUPPORT<br />
Added support files for Apple GV 56K, Farallon Netopia, Megahertz<br />
CruiseCards, Hayes Accura 56K and Global Village Teleport X2. </p>
<p>PRICING<br />
TeleFinder is $675 for the Web, Email and BBS Servers. A license for<br />
unlimited distribution of the TeleFinder clients and 2 concurrent users is<br />
included with the package. The upgrade is free to purchasers of version<br />
5.6, $150 from previous versions. Version 5.7 is available now. OEM, Site,<br />
and Source code licenses are also available. </p>
