<p>NetGear, a supplier of branded networking solutions, has added<br />
rack-mount Unified Network Storage appliances and secure remote<br />
access to its family of ReadyNAS products (<a href="http://www.readynas.com" title="http://www.readynas.com">http://www.readynas.com</a>)<br />
for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).</p>
<p>The ReadyNAS 2100 is an 1U 4-bay storage system that enables SMBs to<br />
share, store and protect files across a LAN or WAN, guard against<br />
disk failures, and grow capacity as needed. It also has<br />
enterprise-grade hard drives and Error Correction Code (ECC) RAM</p>
<p>The ReadyNAS 2100 provides all of the features and benefits of the<br />
recently launched ReadyNAS NVX 4-bay desktop model for sharing,<br />
storing and protecting SMB data, but in a nt rack-mountable 1U form<br />
factor. Its modular design --the "X-Change" rapid system board<br />
module, with the system board, power supply and cooling fans packaged<br />
into a discrete module -- and 12-inch depth make it ideal for easy<br />
servicing, and facilitate back-to-back physical arrangements, says<br />
Mark Song, product line manager for NetGear's Network Storage<br />
Business Unit.</p>
<p>"Users of the ReadyNAS 2100 also benefit from energy efficiency; the<br />
device has an Intel advanced embedded processor as well as smart<br />
power management options, such as sequential drive spin-up and idle<br />
drive spin-down, which reduce overall power consumption to less than<br />
80 watts," he adds.</p>
<p>The ReadyNAS RAIDiator operating system supports the Apple Filing<br />
Protocol (AFP), enabling native Mac files to be used without<br />
restrictions or limitations, as well as Time Machine in Mac OS X<br />
Leopard. New in the ReadyNAS 2100, the ReadyNAS Remote feature,<br />
available on all ReadyNAS systems, enables users to simply drag 'n<br />
drop files over a secure connection between any Mac or Windows<br />
computer and their ReadyNAS, from anywhere in the world.</p>
<p>The ReadyNAS 2100, with 2TB and 4TB of storage, will be available in<br />
early June from value-added resellers at an estimated U.S. street<br />
price starting at $1,899. A model with 8TB of storage will be<br />
available later in 2009.</p>
