enables a user to upgrade a system's primary processor card to faster
speeds as
new processors become available, substantially reducing the risk of premature
obsolescence. The high end SuperMac S900 systems also feature a slot for a
secondary processor to support multiprocessing. SuperMac S900 systems support
the Mac OS-compatible industry standard for multiprocessing, DayStar Digital's
nPOWER technology.
"We are pleased to be able to protect users' investments in our
high end
systems by offering the options of upgrading the primary processor and also by
providing a multiprocessor implementation," said Andy Chang, senior vice
president of worldwide sales for UMAX Computer Corporation. "The upgrades are
as simple as plugging a card into a slot on the system board, and can be
quickly
performed by the user since the system enclosure was designed for easy access
through a removable panel."
