Model (COM) Edition is available now for download at no cost directly<br />
from the company's web site at <a href="http://developer.entrust.com" title="http://developer.entrust.com">http://developer.entrust.com</a>. Entrust<br />
Technologies has also added support for the Macintosh platform to its<br />
Entrust/File and Entrust/Session toolkits. The Macintosh versions<br />
of these open toolkits are also available now for download at no cost<br />
directly from the company's Open Developer Web site.</p>
<p>Today's announcement of the new availability of Entrust/Toolkit COM<br />
Edition and the addition of toolkit support for the Macintosh<br />
platform, builds on the company's recent announcements at the January<br />
1999 RSA Data Security Conference in San Jose, CA. At that<br />
conference, Entrust pioneered the concept of no-cost, open,<br />
standards-based toolkits designed to accelerate the development and<br />
distribution of PKI-enabled applications that work with multiple PKI<br />
and Certification Authority (CA) products or services. The move will<br />
help customers by removing interoperability barriers within the<br />
industry and seeding the market for new enterprise PKI applications<br />
in areas such as e-commerce, e-mail, the Web, desktop security, VPN,<br />
and remote access. -more-</p>
<p>"In the two weeks that have passed since our initial announcement,<br />
more than 1600 organizations or individuals have downloaded Entrust's<br />
software and documentation directly from our web site," said John<br />
Ryan, president and chief executive officer, Entrust Technologies<br />
Inc. "This figure builds on the 1000 CD's already distributed to<br />
developers at the RSA Data Security Conference in mid-January. We<br />
believe this is proof that our move to offer an open developer suite<br />
will accelerate the speed at which PKI-enabled applications are<br />
developed within the industry."</p>
<p>Developer feedback on the web site have also been positive with<br />
comments gathered such as "The program is a great idea!!!I have<br />
installed the toolkits, Entrust/PKI 4.0 and created initial<br />
certificates.This program looks like a win-win for Entrust and its<br />
developers/customers."</p>
