<p>LapCop: smarter than thieves</p>
<p>Belgium, October 15, 2002 - SweetCocoa is proud to announce LapCop a new<br />
and innovative stealth software application. In case your Mac gets stolen,<br />
LapCop secretly transmits an electronic beacon to an e-mail address of your<br />
choice. This stealth e-mail, containing the internet route to your Mac,<br />
together with information about its network settings, provides enough<br />
information to accurately track your Mac geographically.</p>
<p>Laptop theft has reached epidemic proportions worldwide: there were 591,000<br />
laptops stolen in the USA in the year 2001 and according to a recent FBI<br />
report, 97% of all stolen computers are never recovered. That's why<br />
programs similar to LapCop have seen a heavy demand on other platforms<br />
during the past months. Since Macs are very popular among thieves, we<br />
decided to develop LapCop. While most other stealth programs just send you<br />
a daily e-mail containing all information about your laptop status, LapCop<br />
works smarter. It automatically detects when your Mac is stolen and goes<br />
into alarm mode. Once your stolen Mac gets connected, even for a very short<br />
time, LapCop will send a stealth e-mail. With this stealth e-mail the<br />
chances of catching a thief are pretty high for the police and other<br />
authorities and your case will get priority.</p>
<p>LapCop is written from the ground up for Mac OS X 10.2 or later. Feedback<br />
from beta testers has been incredibly positive. They suggested LapCop is<br />
worth $30. Because we don't want Mac users to break the bank to protect<br />
their Mac, LapCop is available now for only $15. You can download LapCop<br />
for free from the SweetCocoa website. However, for safety reasons, LapCop<br />
will only start monitoring your Mac after registration.</p>
