<p>March 6, 2008, Vancouver, BC - ActiveState today announced an updated,<br />
open-sourced release of Komodo Edit, the popular and free editor for<br />
dynamic languages including Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Tcl, plus support<br />
for browser-side code including JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML.</p>
<p>Komodo Edit, based on the award-winning Komodo IDE, offers sophisticated<br />
support for all major scripting languages, including in-depth autocomplete<br />
and calltips, multi-language file support, syntax coloring and syntax<br />
checking, Vi emulation, and Emacs key bindings. Komodo Edit is built on the<br />
Mozilla code base, and is now licensed under the same terms as Firefox:<br />

open-source in Komodo Edit will be made available as free (as in beer)<br />

<p>In addition to open-sourcing Komodo Edit, the latest release includes a<br />
completely redesigned Find and Replace functionality with new features,<br />
including Find in Project, Replace in Files, multi-line Find and Replace,<br />
fixes for regular expression searches, and a new Find sub-system that<br />
properly handles Unicode-encoded files and skipping binary files.</p>
<p>Komodo Edit 4.3 also includes a new Abbreviations feature that inserts<br />
snippets from the Toolbox at the touch of a key; several useful default<br />
snippets are included, and additional snippets can be added easily.</p>
