Connectix Announces DoubleTalk

Access Windows Networks from Your Mac

SAN MATEO, Calif.- January 9, 2001 - Connectix Corporation, makers of the
best-selling and award-winning Virtual PC family of products, today
announced Connectix DoubleTalk, a software application for the Macintosh
that allows users to access Windows networks from their Mac. This new
product is designed for the Mac user who has little or no Windows
knowledge, but needs to share resources, such as file servers or printers,
on a Windows based network.

DoubleTalk does the impossible, it gives Mac users access to Windows
networks, said Mitchell Cipriano, Connectix vice president of marketing,
Because it is so easy to use, DoubleTalk actually makes a Mac a better
Windows client than a PC.

DoubleTalk Features
Access Windows-Based Network Resources - Access Windows fileservers,
transfer files to and from shared Windows workstations over the network and
print to shared PC-based PostScript printers.

Quick Mac-like Setup - DoubleTalk is designed for Mac users and assumes no
PC networking knowledge. The DoubleTalk Setup Assistant makes configuration
quick and easy in the familiar Mac environment. It automatically configures
its network settings, then DoubleTalk allows easy access to network
resources through the tools Mac users already know, such as the Chooser.

Create Peer-to-Peer Networks with PCs - DoubleTalk makes it easy for Mac
users and Windows users to create peer-to-peer workgroups to transfer files
and share printers, making DoubleTalk an ideal SOHO solution.

Enhanced Printing - DoubleTalk provides an enhanced print queue with more
detailed printer and print information. Additionally, DoubleTalk increases
performance of Mac laser printers - by using the DoubleTalk print
mechanism, printing will be up to 50% faster than when using the Mac OS
alone.

System Requirements

Macintosh PowerPC, G3 or G4
Mac OS 8.1 or later
24MB of RAM required, 5 MB of disk space
AppleTalk enabled
AppleShare Client required for Mac OS 8.1
CD-ROM Drive

Price and Availability
DoubleTalk has an estimated street price of $99 and is available from the
Connectix online store (www.connectix.com) and will be widely available at
retail stores, mail order catalogs, and online stores where Macintosh
products are sold.

Connectix Corporation
Founded in 1988 and based in San Mateo, California, Connectix is a leader
in high-performance compatibility software, originally entering the market
with Virtual, a groundbreaking product that provided virtual memory for the
Mac. The ever-popular RAM Doubler and Speed Doubler products were then
launched in 1994 and 1995, respectively. Today the company develops
innovative and award-winning products that break the natural boundaries
that exist between different operating systems and computer platforms,
providing users the freedom to work on their platform of choice while using
the software and hardware they need.

Connectix remains focused on new technologies and products that meet the
demands of an emerging multi-platform, internet-driven business
environment. For more information on Virtual PC and other Connectix
products, please visit their web site at (http://www.connectix.com/).
