OVERVIEW.HLP
The "World" is comprised of the following:
1. The Wilderness
When you leave Angston, you enter "The Wilderness". It is composed
of a map area 80 x 160 spaces. Each "space" can be one of many different
terrain types, including mountains, grassland, marsh, forest, water, etc.
Within the Wilderness are 4 towns (Angston, Forestview, Mountainview, and
Oceanview. A fifth, Thieves' Hollow, is hidden and clues to its
whereabouts as well as how to enter it once you find it are acquired
from townspeople and a hermit. The four towns start on the north
central coast (Angston), and end on the south central coast (Oceanview).
They are roughly the same distance apart, and stay more less centered
between the east and west coasts.
Also to be found are two dungeons (Grey and White) and two castles
(Demon and Decrepit). The Grey Dungeon is in the northeast section,
and the White Dungeon is somewhere on the southern coast. Demon Castle
is on the southern coast just west of Oceanview. Decrepit Castle is
in the Ruins which are found in the southeast corner of the Wilderness.
The castle itself is in the southeast portion of the Ruins.
2. The Wasteland
There is another wilderness area known as the Wasteland. It is a cold
and barren place, virtually bereft of human life, full of treacherous
crevasses and ice flows. Within it, however, are several key
areas:
1. The Ice Castle, in the northwest, is the last structure your party
should visit. The culmination of the game lies within its walls.
2. There are three caves in the Wasteland. One contains an item
valuable to one of your mages, one contains magical words needed
to open a gate in the Ice Castle, and the third leads the way to
the Hidden Valley, which is more fully described below.
3. Hidden Valley
Hidden Valley is accessed through a cave in the Wasteland. The Elfen
Words of Power "Caxiis Majoris" are needed to pass through the
magical door. Once through, you'll be in another cave. At the opposite
end of this cave is an exit leading to the Hidden Valley. Withing the
Valley are two towns and, yes, another cavern. This one is not easy to
find, and help will be needed in the mountain town of Lush. Lush is
guarded by Granite Ogres, level 10 monsters, so beware!! This cavern
holds a VERY important item, one that will see your party through the
corridors of poison in the Ice Castle.
