Thank you for your selection of the Strat-Tech Business
Strategy Model! We are sure that you will find it extremely
valuable in preparing your business plans.
This shareware is free for you to examine, copy, and
distribute. If you find the software useful, a contribution
of $25.00 would be appreciated to help maintain the programs
and a user network. After receipt of the contribution, we
will give you a bulletin board number to call and get the more
instructive manual which accompanies the model.
The model is composed of a number of Lotus 123 worksheets
which run under Lotus or VP Planner. The model will run under
versions 1A, 2.0, or 2.01 of Lotus. It also runs under
version 1 of VP Planner and possibly version 2 of VP Planner.
The first order of business is to make working copy(s) from
the master copy which should then be safeguarded. In order to
make a copy you must first have a blank formatted disk. You
format a disk using the FORMAT b: command. See your DOS
manual for more information. Now create the working copy
using the COPY command. Put the Master STRAT-TECH MODEL disk
in drive A. Put your blank formatted disk in drive B. Use
the command: COPY a:\*.* b: to produce the copy. If you are
using a fixed disk, I suggest you create a directory to copy
the model to on the fixed disk. Use the command: MD
c:stratmod. Now with the model in drive A enter the command:
COPY a:\*.* c:\stratmod. This last command establishes the
model on your fixed disk in the directory "stratmod".
Starting the model is very easy. Once Lotus 123 is
booted into memory, set your directory to the model's
directory. If you are working off the floppy in drive b:
enter the Lotus commands: /WGDDEscb:\(return)Q. If you are
working with a fixed disk enter the lotus commands:
/WGDDEscc:\stratmod(return)Q. Now to get to the model's Main
Menu enter the Lotus commands: /FRINTRO(return). The Main
Menu will appear where you select what strategic functions you
will be working on. From this point Menus and instructions
guide your way.
Model data is entered right on the worksheet you select and is
saved there as desired. Floppy disk users should have
adequate room to enter all data on the disk. If more room
should become necessary you can delete the decision making
module from the disk. (Make a copy first if you desire to use
this module at another time).
The best approach is to have one model disk for each industry
or each product you are working with. The model compares one
industry to a competitive industry, or one product to a
competing product.
Minimum System Requirements are:
IBM PC or compatible computer. 384K of RAM internal memory.
PC-DOS or MS-DOS operating system, Version 2.0 or later.
Lotus 123 Version 1A, 2.0, or 2.01. Version 1 of VP Planner.
*Note: You may have to rename the extension of the files to
satisfy the software package. VP Planner and version 1A of
lotus use the extension WKS; Lotus version 2.0 or 2.01 use
WK1.
