The significant changes from QEMM 6.01 to QEMM 6.02:
By default, we now unmap free EMS pages from the page frame only when
Stealth is active.
We now have the SHADOWRAM switch to force recognition of different kinds
of ShadowRAM that lie in the weeds somewhat.
It fixes a problem we had when programs make calls to the IBM SCSI
interface from within W3/3.
TESTBIOS was changed to remove the "many strange things" that happen
during OPTIMIZE. This is my least favourite change.
The 64 meg limit was removed from EMBMEM.
It fixes a VIDRAM bug that occurred when memory did not end at 640K on
DOS 5 systems and DOS had not allocated UMB's with the DOS=UMB option.
The new OPTIMIZE extends the file size capability to around 20k (up from
around 9k - the line limit is still 512).
The first three things are fixable by patches to QEMM which are free and
available. The last three things are not particularly significant; any
user who can create these problems is also capable of solving them. The
middle one is pure cosmetics; people who ignored the "many strange
things may happen during the course of this testing" message from
Optimize and went apoplectic when strange things did happen will find
the strangeness more comprehensible.
No current policy statement is available on upgrade disks. Again, you
don't need them -- you can make any needed changes for free as described
above -- so your patience is appreciated and well-founded.

Michael Bolton
