Transitive hypertext jumps <sum06 1 7>
==========================
Menus of jumps Major portions of a HyperRez knowledge system centers on
or single jumps "transitive" hypertext jumps, which offer users choices
=============== between 4-6 jumps instead of single jumps. Why?
Because, with good sets (completeness, parallelism,
order), transitive hypertext sets provide:
Transitivity ┌────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
hypertext │ - clear evidence of the results of each jump <link32 2> │
provides │ - ways to rapidly move to desired files <link36> │
======== │ - the structure of the system of knowledge <link37> │
└────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Making predictable In contrast, users can seldom predict whether single,
hypertext jumps stand-alone hypertext jumps produce a trickle or a flood
=============== of information. Yet predictability in jumps is central to
hypertext <link04>. That's why I organize jumps into sets.
Good sets of hypertext jumps show both the commonality
and the separateness of listed jumps, which help users
predict the results of any selected hypertext jump.
