WELCOME TO THE DUDLEY ADVENTURE!
Your commands can be expressed in the format:
verb phrase - noun phrase - preposition - noun phrase/object
For example:
PUT THE SMALL COIN IN THE SLOT
EXAMINE THE MOUSE, THE GUARD AND THE STATUE
EAT THE PUPU PLATTER
HIT THE DEAN WITH THE ARTICHOKE
IGNORE HIM (HIM refers to last noun mentioned, e.g. the dean)
GET THE BOOK or TAKE THE BOOK
READ IT (IT refers to last noun mentioned, e.g. the book)
GET ALL or DROP ALL
Compound commands are created by connecting single commands with AND, THEN,
or a comma or semicolon to connect two or more separate commands, such as:
CLIMB THE FENCE THEN SOUTH, WEST AND NORTHWEST
OPEN THE DESK AND THEN EXAMINE IT; CLOSE THE DESK
DROP THE WOMBAT AND THE COIN THEN UNLOCK THE DOOR AND THEN EXIT
Some GENERAL COMMANDS that can be of great help are:
EXAMINE or READ <object>: Describes the <object> in detail.
TAKE <object>: Adds the <object> to your inventory.
DROP <object>: Removes the <object> from your inventory.
OPEN or CLOSE <object>: Just what it says.
LOCK or UNLOCK <object>: Just what it says.
WEAR or REMOVE <object>: Some objects can be donned and doffed.
EAT or DRINK <object>: Again, just what it says.
WAIT: Wastes a turn. Useful when standing in line, etc.
LOOK (or L): Describes your immediate surroundings.
INVENTORY (or I): Lists what you are carrying and wearing.
HELP: Gives hints as to your next move. USE ONLY AS A LAST RESORT!!
SAVE: Saves your position in the game.
RESTORE: Restores a SAVEd position.
SCRIPT: Sends your subsequent moves to the printer.
UNSCRIPT: Turns printer function OFF.
SCORE: Tells you how you are progressing.
VERSION: Displays the version and release date of this copy.
QUIT: Exits the game and displays your score.
You may address characters in the game in the following manner:
TALK TO <Character>
ASK <Character> ABOUT <Whatever>
Also, the CURSOR KEYS correspond to the various movement/compass directions.
Hitting the '?' key (during the game) will display a diagram of these keys and
their definitions.
