Composure is written entirely in WordPerfect's advanced
macro programming language. All of the files needed to
run the program are contained in a self-extracting format
created using Yoshi's LHA. Since Composure is compatible
only with WordPerfect 5.1 (versions 6/29/90 or later),
the assumption is made that users will have installed a
hard disk to speed up operation of WordPerfect.
========================================================
The following is the recommended installation procedure:
1. For the one-month trial period at least, you may
wish to make a separate keyboard/macro directory
for Composure and log onto it:
c:\ ENTER (or any other drive)
md cpsure ENTER
cd cpsure ENTER
Alternatively, you can install Composure in your
regular keyboard/macro directory. (If you decide to
remove it later, you can use wildcards to delete
the files: CP*.*.)
2. From the above directory, copy the .EXE file from
your floppy disk drive to your hard drive:
copy a:\*.exe ENTER (or b: as appropriate)
3. Extract the files:
cpsure??.exe ENTER (?? is the release number)
4. Load WordPerfect according to your usual practice.
5. Press Shift-F1, 6, 2 and change the path to your
keyboards and macros to C:\CPSURE. (If you have
opted to install Composure into your regular
keyboard/macro directory, skip this step.)
6. Press 5. If the path to your style files is
different from what is now your keyboard/macro
directory path, make note of the paths to both for
future reference.
7. Cursor down a line and change your library filename
to CPSURE.STY. (Alternatively, you can skip this
step, but Composure will then have to pause to make
a few necessary style files each time you create a
file. If you use styles regularly and have tailored
your default library style file for special appli-
cations, try leaving things as they are for the
trial period until you familiarize yourself with
how the Composure style platform works. You can
also add the two styles in CPSURE.STY to your
default library style file, but for the greatest
flexibility, speed, and overall reduction of
file sizes, using CPSURE.STY as the default is
recommended.)
8. Press F7 to return to your normal editing screen,
then press F5, the equal sign (=), and the path to
your keyboard/macro directory. Press ENTER twice.
9. Press F5 and type CP*.STY, ENTER. You should see a
listing of Composure's eleven style files. If your
style files are NOT in a different directory from
the keyboard/macro files (refer to step 6 above),
press F7. Otherwise, do the following:
ALT-F5 to tag all files
Select 3, move the files to your Styles directory
F7
10. If you want to be able to use Composure's compose
character lookup feature (for all characters in
WordPerfect's eleven character sets), follow the
same steps above to copy the .TXT files to your
working directory:
F5, type CP*.TXT, ENTER
Select 3, move the files to your working directory
F7
Composure's registration form and product descrip-
tion files also end in .TXT: CPREGIS.TXT (includes
attractive discount packages) and CPRODUCT.TXT.
11. If the above steps have been completed
successfully, press F5, n (or =) to name search for
CP*.EXE, and delete the file.
12. Create an ALT-key macro to call Composure (we
suggest ALT-L, since Composure's keyboards use L
for the language module and main menu access, but
use any key you like):
CTRL-F10 (to start recording macro)
ALT-L
Overwrite existing macro if desired (or start over)
Enter description if desired
ALT-F10 (to invoke a macro)
cpsure (the name of Composure's main macro)
ENTER
CTRL-F10 (to stop recording the macro)
Composure is now installed. Press the ALT-key macro you
just defined, then @ to read the on-line welcome and
instructions.
