  125.  recommended that you hit 'a' to abort the
  126.  file open attempt and see if any chords are
  127.  displayed.  If you get this message repeatedly,
  128.  it would indicate that CHORDMASTER is not
  129.  properly installed.  Be sure that about 20
  130.  .CF files appear in the program directory.

  206.  setup menu allows the user to specify the fret range, strings, and

  210.  TAB or ENTER.  When record is as desired press F7 to save.  Press
  211.  ESC to exit and ignore changes.

  213.  For each STRING enter Y or N to indicate whether it should be used
  214.  for display.  Specify the FRET RANGE over which chords should by
  215.  displayed; remember, no more than 16 frets can be diplayed at one time.

  218.  displayed.  The MAXIMUM number of notes depends on how many
  219.  strings are used, the MINIMUM number of notes is determined by
  220.  the type of chord.

  321.           Units of measure are system ticks (1 tick = approx .05 sec).

  327.  LENGTH - TIme in milliseconds that chords will sound after the last
  328.           note has been played.  Units of measure are system ticks

  332.                  are played with the system's internal speaker.

  354.  This menu selection allows the user
  355.  to edit the contents of the existing
  356.  library file for a particular chord.

  361.    An illegal chord has been entered.  Either a tone that is not part of
  362.    the formula has been included, or a critical tone has been omitted.  As
  363.    far as what constitutes a legitimate chord, the following rules apply:

  367.        3                 At least one instance of each tone must be present.
  368.  
  369.        4                 At least on instance of each tone must be present,
  370.                          excepting the 3rd may be dropped in the presence of
  371.                          a 2nd or 4th.

  373.        5                 The root or 5th may be dropped.  The 3rd may be
  374.                          dropped in the presence of a 2nd or 4th.
  375.  
  376.        6, 7              The root and 5th may be dropped.  The 3rd may be

  446.  during resolution.  Valid values are 1 to 5.

  458.  This menu selection allows only perfect synonyms
  459.  of a chord to be displayed upon resolution.  If
  460.  this feature is disabled, approximations will be
  461.  displayed on the resolve line.

  463. <NOROOT  >
  464.  RESOLVE - NO ROOT

  466.  This menu selection allows chords with no root
  467.  to be considered as synonyms during resolution.

  470.  All editing of chord files must be done with the
  471.  desired chord entered in the key of 'A'.  Upon
  472.  display, the chord files are transposed into the
  473.  appropriate key.

  475. <not_root>
  476.  No chord files are entered for 'noroot' chords.
  477.  
  478.  Display of 'noroot' chords depends on resolving
  479.  them to chords that do have a root.  To ensure
  480.  that 'noroot' chords are displayed, set resolve
  481.  options to display enough chord synonyms.

  483. <noresolv>

  485.  This chord cannot be resolved using the current
  486.  RESOLVE data.  Chordings cannot be DISPLAYed unless
  487.  they can be resolved to a chord that has a root.
  488.  To add this chord pattern to the RESOLVE data select
  489.  the ADD CHORD item from the FILES menu.  When done
  490.  this pattern will be added to the RESOLVE data and
  491.  associated with the chord text that has been input.
  492.  Once this is done all that remains is to enter chords
  493.  in a chord library file.  Do this by selecting the
  494.  NEW FILE item from the FILES menu.

  576.  This error can be suppressed by setting Midi Device OFF under the
  577.  PLAY options menu.
