- men. Try this product out at parties and women's clubs. This
- game gives you something to do on that PC at the office.
-
- The player experiences a simulation of events that occur while
- dating. The object of the game is to learn strategies for meeting

- 4... INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
- INSTALLATION:
- This procedure is to be done by the PC systems administrator
- or the user if there is no administrator. Observe before you begin
- that the graphics files require 2,065,556 bytes in addition to
- the executable and other data files.
-
-
- To install Dater on a hard disk,
- a) Please use the mkdir command to set up a subdirectory on the
- hard disk by typing the following command at the DOS prompt:
- MKDIR C:\yourdir
- Note that 'yourdir' is a name of your choosing.
- b) Then insert the aware diskette into drive A:, and use the following
- command to copy all of the necessary files to your hard disk:
- COPY A:\*.* C:\yourdir\*.*
- c) pkunzip date.zip c:\yourdir (This procedure decompresses
- PCX graphics files needed by the program. There should be
- 83 of these when pkunzip is done). As this procedure is
- running you will se messages 'Exploding C:\yourdir...pcx'.
- You may if you wish delete pkunzip from the hard disk (NOT
- THE DISTRIBUTION MEDIA) and delete DATE.ZIP from the hard
- disk. They are not used by the program.
- You are now ready to run.
- If your hard drive is not designated as C:, you should substitute the
- appropriate letter in place of the "C" in the previous commands.Be sure
- to store the original diskette in a safe place as an archival backup.
-
- OPERATION:
- Invocation:
- The user must set his directory to the yourdir subdirectory by typing
- this command from the DOS prompt:
- CD C:\yourdir
- The program may then be invoked by typing 'DATER' followed by a
- carriage return:
- DATER <CR>
- Allow the initial screens to 'play'. The program is easy to use
- and operate. Operation most often requires a typed answer to a
- question or a carriage return <ENTER>. You do not need to pick up
- adventure-game objects. You do not need to do arcade 'shooting'.
- In the middle of the game you will engage your randomly chosen
- male in a converstation. Remember to type 'BYE' to end the
- conversation.
- During the conversation you will be prompted with a ':'. You
- may then enter something like
- :today is the first day of the rest of my life
- The male will then respond with
- "Today has been rancid
- :"
