  24. The focus of the USERDOC2 Working Group is on identifying and locating
  25. documentation about the Internet. A major activity is the revision of
  26. an existing bibliography of on-line and hard copy documents/reference
  27. materials/training tools addressing general networking information and
  28. ``How to use the Internet'' (RFC 1175, FYI 3). This effort will also be
  29. used to help locate documentation produced by other organizations and
  30. examine the means by which such documents are made available on the
  31. Internet. The target audience is those individuals who provide services
  32. to end users and end users themselves. The group is also developing a
  33. new FYI RFC document designed as a very short bibliography targeted at
  34. novice users.
  35.  
  36. The USERDOC2 Working Group will:
  37.  
  38. (1) Identify and categorize useful documents, reference materials,
  39. training tools, and other publications about the Internet, particularly
  40. those available on-line.
  41.  
  42. (2) Publish on-line and hard copies of the bibliography(s) produced and
  43. other reference material on documentation as needs are identified.
  44.  
  45. (3) Develop and implement procedures to maintain and update the
  46. bibliography and investigate methods to provide the information in an
  47. on-line format.
  48.  
  49. (4) As a part of the update process, identify new materials for
  50. inclusion into the active bibliography and identify additional needs
  51. which are required for locating documentation and other publications.
  52.  
  53. (5) Review procedures for periodic review of the bibliography by the
  54. User Services Working Group.
  55.  
  56. (6) Examine methods for delivering documentation and work with
  57. providers to improve the availability of basic Internet documentation.

  60.  Goals and Milestones: 
  61.  
  62.      Done Identify new ``sources of information'' (e.g., individuals, mailing 
  63.           lists, bulletins, etc.) Review existing document and obtain comments 
  64.           from others in USWG about needed revisions at the San Diego IETF.    
  65.  
  66.      Done Publish an Internet-Draft of the short bibliography for novice users.
  67.  
  68.      Done Submit the revised FYI document to the IESG for publication as an 
  69.           RFC.

  71.      Done Post a revised version of FYI3, ``A bibliography of Internetworking 
  72.           Information'' as an Internet-Draft.
