  21. Description of Working Group:

  23. The TELNET Working Group will examine RFC 854, ``Telnet Protocol
  24. Specification,'' in light of the last six years of technical
  25. advancements, and will determine if it is still accurate with how the
  26. TELNET protocol is being used today.  This group will also look at all 
  27. the TELNET options, and decide which are still germane to current-day 
  28. implementations of the TELNET protocol.

  31. (1) Re-issue RFC 854 to reflect current knowledge and usage of the
  32.     TELNET protocol.
  33.    
  34. (2) Create RFCs for new TELNET options to clarify or fill in any
  35.     voids in the current option set.  Specifically: environment
  36.      variable passing, authentication, encryption, and compression.
  37.  
  38. (3) Act as a clearing-house for all proposed RFCs that deal with the
  39.     TELNET protocol.
