- 1. Area Directors were reminded that a number of WG minutes and Area
- Reports are still outstanding, and that the cut-off date for Area
- Reports is November 26th.
-
- 2. The minutes from the October 21 IESG teleconference were approved.
-
- 3. The IESG approved "Telnet Environment Option"
- <draft-ietf-telnet-envmnt-option-03.txt> as a Proposed Standard. The
- IESG also approved the publication of "Telnet Environment Option
- Interoperability Issues" <draft-ietf-telnet-interoperability-00.txt>
- as an informational document.
-
- 4. Two concerns were voiced with the Classical IP and ARP over ATM
- document (submitted to the IESG as a Proposed Standard candidate).
- First, the document specifies the way in which virtual lans should
- communicate with each other. It was felt that this method should be
- recommended, but not required. Another concern was that the
- document was limited in applicability and needs to be clearer in
- its definitions. As an example, the word "classical" was not clear;
- it could mean IPv4 or it could mean the classical paradigm.
-
- Stev to discuss the with Dave Piscitello prior to conveying IESG
- concerns to the working group.
-
- 5. The IESG approved the publication of "Guidelines to OSPF/Frame Relay"
- <draft-ietf-ospf-guidelines-frn-00.txt> as an Informational Document.
-
- 6. There was a discussion on the level of involvement that should be
- taken with respect to efforts on running EDI over the Internet, and
- whether or not the IESG should initiate IETF activities for
- transferring EDI traffic over the internet. The initial consensus
- was that the IETF should support commerce running over the net, but
- there was a desire for a more concrete statement of opinion. John
- Klensin and Dave Crocker agreed to produce a proposal to be
- submitted to the IESG for their consideration.
-
- 7. The IESG opted to have changes made to The Internet Standards
- Process -- Revision 2 (aka 1310bis) prior to sending out a last
- call. Coya to extract messages that have been received on this and
- send them to the document authors (Huitema and Gross). Once the
- revised I-D is available, a last call will be sent.
