 The Official Phreakers Manual 1.5

  This archive does not represent any original research, nor is it a
  corrected version of the original work. It is simply a more
  organized and consistent rendering of the first version.

  The Official Phreakers Manual 1.0 seems to be a collection of
  smaller G-Files, brought together by an industrious and well
  intentioned individual, very likely Jack the Ripper. Although the
  size of his efforts are to be appreciated, no attempt was made to
  standardize the text, which makes for difficult reading.

  Version 1.5 has incorporated a standard formatting scheme through
  the entire length of the document. The gaudy and overly large
  title borders have been removed, lists alphabetized and
  columnized, letter case corrected, bullets added to point-lists,
  single-paragraph-chapters broken up, margins added, etc ... The
  finished product has also been supplied in three formats, to take
  advantage of the print quality available from compatible printers.

  I made every effort to keep the material from the original
  document "virgo-intacta." Some wiring charts had to be thinned, at
  the expense of redundant characters, only. I tried to make a point
  of not correcting anything (except overly obvious spelling
  mistakes) from the first version.

  This is a quality piece of work, and to summarize - all credit
  belongs to the authors of the individual chapters; Jack the Ripper
  collected these files together, and I have endowed the text with
  the consistent formatting of a single-source reference.

  I'm sure Bell would be pleased.
