  2. This README file lists enhancements to the files on the PTR
  3. Program/Graphics diskette(s) that are not yet documented in the
  4. Reference Manual.  Dates in parentheses indicate when the
  5. enhancement was implemented.  Please refer to the README files
  6. on the other master diskettes for additional information.

  24. Four new soft font format types have been added:  LaserJet IIP,
  25. LaserJet III, IBM 4019, and BubbleJet 130E.

  28. A new option in the Miscellaneous Questions screen can be marked
  29. to indicate that the printer is a color PostScript printer.  This
  30. allows a color PostScript printer to print color graphic images
  31. in color.

  34. A /50point startup option has been added, which converts 5.0
  35. printer files to maintain line height and word spacing values from
  36. WordPerfect 5.0.  (See Update Guide, pgs. 9-11, for complete
  37. explanation of line height and word spacing changes between 5.0 and
  38. 5.1).  NOTE: THIS STARTUP OPTION DOES NOT WORK WITH POSTSCRIPT
  39. PRINTER .PRS OR .ALL FILES.  To use this option,
  40.  
  41. 1   Enter PTR/50point filename, where filename is the 5.0 .PRS or
  42.     .ALL file to be converted.

  44. PTR.EXE  (06/29)
  45. The Printer program (PTR.EXE) now has a /autofont startup option
  46. that supports the Autofont technology recently introduced by
  47. Hewlett-Packard.  This option allows users to add font information
  48. to their .ALL file(s) without needing a driver from WordPerfect
  49. that contains the support for those fonts.  This affects Cartridge,
  50. Built-In, and Soft Fonts.  PTR/autofont can modify more than one
  51. .ALL file at a time.
  52.  
  53. It is important to make sure you have run the Autofont Support
  54. Installer that is supplied by the font vendor with the fonts.  This
  55. creates an Autofont directory off the root drive.  In this
  56. directory are files that the PTR/autofont option uses to modify the
  57. .ALL file(s).
  58.  
  59. It is necessary to have a decompressed copy of PTR.EXE, from the
  60. Install/Learn/Utilities diskette(s), in a DOS directory, for the
  61. /autofont option to work.  If you haven't already done so, run
  62. INSTALL.EXE and install PTR into a directory on your hard-drive. 
  63. The PTR directory should be in your DOS path.
  64.  
  65. To use PTR/autofont,
  66.  
  67. 1    Enter PTR/autofont from the DOS prompt.  Note: PTR/autofont
  68.      looks in  the current directory, then the directory where
  69.      PTR.EXE is located for the .ALL file(s) to be modified.  If
  70.      the .ALL  file(s) cannot be located, you are prompted to enter
  71.      the full path name for the .ALL file(s).  In this case, it is
  72.      important to know where the .ALL file(s) can be found.

  74. 2    Highlight the printer you want to modify in the "Printers that
  75.      can have Autofont Support" menu, then select Add Autofont
  76.      Support (2).  The whole process takes about a minute to run. 
  77.      To modify more than one printer, highlight each printer you
  78.      want to add support for and select Select Printer (1) to mark
  79.      it with an asterisk, then select Add Autofont Support (2). 
  80.      PTR/autofont will update each printer that is marked with an
  81.      asterisk.

  83. 3    Enter WordPerfect, go into Print: Select Printer, Edit to
  84.      modify your .PRS file(s).  Select Cartridges and Fonts to mark
  85.      the fonts for your printer.

  88. Print wheels marked in PTR as "Include in PRS" are marked with an
  89. asterisk/plus (*+) when the .PRS file is created.  This eliminates
  90. the beep from Printer Control that was previously given when all
  91. print wheels were marked with a plus (+).

  94. Select and Look are now options on the List screen.

  96. VIDEO7.VRS  (03/30)
  97. Includes drivers for various text modes for Video7 FastWrite and
  98. VGA boards.

  100. WPSMALL.DRS  (03/30)
  101. The WPSMALL.DRS file is now on the PTR Program/Graphics disk(s)
  102. and is installed separately.  The file is still copied to the
  103. Program directory when you are installing to a hard drive and to
  104. the WordPerfect 2 diskette when you are installing to floppies.

  107. A list of all enhancements made to WordPerfect 5.1 since its
  108. initial release is available on a separate diskette.  You can
  109. order the "Enhancements Document" diskette ($10.00 charge) by
  110. calling SoftCopy Order Processing at (800) 222-9409.
