The following information reflects additions and changes since the Manual
was printed, as well as a recap of some of the new features available in
version 3 of 1dir+.
NEW SETUP OPTION - DIRECTORY PERSONALITIES ACTIVE
-------------------------------------------------
In Set Up, you may now specify whether or not you wish the Initial Menu and
Initial Face of your directory personalities to override the normal Set-Up
options on an initial load or reload of 1dir+. Previously, the Initial Menu
and Initial Face of the Directory Personality were ignored when 1dir+ first
loaded or reloaded. Specify YES in answer to the question in Set Up to make
this feature active. If you answer NO, the normal Start Up Face and Menu as
specified in Set Up will be used.
PROGLIST.DOC
------------
This file explains the structure of PROGLIST.FIL, the file utilized by the
GENERATE utility to create commands and menus. If there are programs on your
system that were not found by GENERATE, the PROGLIST.FIL file may be modified
to suit your needs.
NEW COMMAND ADDED
-----------------
Copy&Chk The Copy&Chk command is a variation on the copy command that
will check the destination for a previously existing file by
the same name and prompt you as to whether or not to overwrite.
Refer to the Help associated with the command. It is found
in the Utility menu.
GLOBAL FACE - THE <Tab> KEY TOGGLES THE DISPLAY MODE
----------------------------------------------------
The Global face provides the capability to display the files:
1) By Directory
2) Single List, and as a sub-set, Show Duplicates
You may use the <Tab> key once the Global face is displayed to toggle between
the two different display modes. You cannot toggle between Single List and
Show Duplicates with the <Tab> key. You must use the Global Personality to
change between Single List and Show Duplicates. Show Duplicates will display
all the DUPLICATE files on your disk, matching your Global Personality.
Show Duplicates is a sub-variant of Single List.
NOTES ON SETUP - MODIFYING THE QUICK REFERENCE FACE and/or MENUONLY TITLE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you modify the Quick Reference Face or the MenuOnly Title in the Set Up
module, when you SAVE from Set Up, the .HLP file is completely rewritten.
Part of the process is a "packing" of the Help to get rid of any extraneous
help. This process will take longer than a "normal" save that does not
completely rewrite the .HLP file.
NEW DOUBLE DIRECTORY FEATURE - <Ctrl Z>
---------------------------------------
In the 2 directory face, you may "Zap" one of the currently displayed
directories. "Zap" merely uninitializes the current active directory, and
moves the remaining directory to the left hand window. Since only one
directory will be displayed after a Zap, it is the active one. To use this
options, use the <Tab> key to make active the directory you wish to Zap, and
press <Ctrl Z>.
MOUSING AROUND IN 1dir+
-----------------------
GENERAL NOTE -
There are many places in 1dir+ where single characters or keys
are referenced and highlighted. Most of these, but not all, are also Hot Zones.
You can use a single click on the left button to activate them. A good example
would be the <N>, <E>, <D> or <S> in the <Ctrl S> Quick Sort feature.
Clicking on any of these characters will invoke the respective sort mode.
IN THE EDITOR -
One of the last modules to be modified to provide Mouse support was the View
editor. Many of the mouse functions within the editor are consistent
with similar operations in 1dir+ itself. For example, to scroll use the left
and right buttons the same as you would use them for files in the directory.
The Hot Zones are the top and bottom single lines that define the screen
editing area. You can position the editor's cursor anywhere in the text by
moving the mouse cursor to where you want it, and pressing the left button once.
Commands and options in the editor's menus are selected and executed the same
way they are in 1dir+ itself. Block operations are implemented using a single
click with the RIGHT button. The first click positions and anchors the block,
the second click positions and anchors the other end of the block. For block
operations, click on the Block command in the View menu, or use a double right
click to bring up the block menu.
IN THE MENU LIBRARY -
The Menu Library provides a window on all the commands and menus in the 1dir+
system, and a mouse is an effective tool for using it. A single click on the
left button in the Menu Indicator window, in the upper right corner of the
screen, will display the Menu Library. Once displayed you can:
1) load any menu, 2) load any menu and highlight a specific command
in it, 3) load any menu and run a specific command, if its Auto option is
set to Yes.
To load a menu: Double click the Left button on the Menu Title
To load a menu and highlight a command: Double click the Left button on the
command within the menu.
If Auto is set to Yes, clicking on a command will load the menu and execute
the command.
IN THE MENU BUILDER AND SET UP MODULES -
If a field allows <Ctrl Enter> options, double clicking with the Left button
on the field prompt will display the <Ctrl Enter> options.
IN A REGULAR FACE -
If you single click with the right button on a command name in the command menu
you will get Help. This is equivalent to pressing <F9> or clicking on the
<F9> in the lower right corner of the screen.
NOTE - For more information on using the mouse in different modules, run the
Tutorial as described on page 9, in the Learning and Using 1dir+ manual.
