*** OVERVIEW ***
ColorMe! is a Windows coloring book for kids. It's great for
introducing children to computers. Using a mouse, a child can
operate the program by simply pointing and clicking. Choose from
five coloring books (ABC's, Animals, Dinosaurs, Staying Home,
Things That Go). ColorMe! has 125 colors and 25 patterns for
filling in the pictures. By mixing colors and patterns, children
come up with very creative designs. ColorMe! will print to any
Windows-supported color or black and white printer. Ages 2-10
*** SOME QUOTES FROM REGISTERED USERS ***
"I think this one far outclasses anything else on shareware." -C. Hoak
"My 4 year-old daughter loves ColorMe! We use it every day." -C. Deatherage
"Best coloring book I've seen" -K. Vu
*** REQUIREMENTS ***
This program requires Windows 3.1 and VGA or better resolution.
*** INSTALLATION ***
Installation from a BBS:
-----------------------
ColorMe! is distributed on BBS systems without a SETUP program for
faster downloads. If you received ColorMe! without the file SETUP.EXE,
follow this easy one-time installation procedure:
1) Make sure all of the ColorMe! files and directories were properly
extracted. The following tree shows all the files and directories
that are distributed with ColorMe!:

If you have a flat directory structure (instead of the nested
one above) you probably did not receive ColorMe! as a self-extracting
archive. Haruyasu Yoshizaki's LHA version 2.55b self-extracting archive
is the preferred distribution format, because by default it retains the
nested directory structure ColorMe! requires. However, you may have
received ColorMe! using some other compression format, such as zip or
arj. If that is the case, you need to specify a switch to retain the
directory structure when you decompress (e.g. "pkunzip -d clrme121.zip",
or "arj x -y clrme121.arj").
If any of the files listed above are missing from your ColorMe! archive,
try downloading ColorMe! from one of the more popular bulletin boards,
such as America Online, or CompuServe. Also, please drop a note
to the sysop of the original BBS from which you downloaded ColorMe! to
let him know that his version of ColorMe! is incomplete. You can
also buy the shareware version of ColorMe! at popular computer stores,
such as Egghead Software and Comp USA.
2) Copy the top level "COLORME!" directory to the root of your C:
hard drive. This step is not required, but "C:\COLORME!" is the
default location for ColorMe! and is used in the remainder of the
instructions. Select the "COLORME!" folder in the File Manager.
Then, select the "Copy..." entry under the "File" menu. Type
"\" into the "TO" field (leave the "FROM" field alone) and click
on the "OK" button.
3) You can create a ColorMe! icon in the Program Manager. First, click
on the group to which you wish to add ColorMe!. Then, choose "New..."
from the "File" menu in the Windows Program Manager. Select "Program Item"
and click "OK". In the "Command Line" box, type "C:\COLORME!\COLORME!.EXE"
(or use the "Browse" button to locate the "COLORME!.EXE" file)
Another way to create the ColorMe! icon in your Program Manager is
to drag the COLORME!.EXE file from the file manager and drop it into
the Program Manager Window.
4) To start ColorMe!, double click on the ColorMe! icon in the Program
Manager. If you did not create an icon, you can start ColorMe! by
double clicking on C:\COLORME!\COLORME!.EXE in the File Manager.
Installation from a distribution disk:
-------------------------------------
If you received ColorMe! on a disk with the file SETUP.EXE, start
the SETUP program as follows: insert the ColorMe! distribution disk
in your floppy drive. From the Windows Program manager choose "Run..."
from the File menu, type "A:\SETUP", and press the enter key. If you
are using a floppy drive other than "A:", substitute the letter of
your drive for "A:" (i.e. "B:\SETUP").
If you have a problem installing ColorMe!, please contact us by
FAX, email, or letter.
*** DOCUMENTATION ***
Complete documentation is provide as on-line help.
*** KNOWN PROBLEMS ***
ColorMe! takes advantage of some of the more advanced features of the
Windows API. We have seen a few cases where ColorMe! does not function
properly due to bugs in particular video drivers. It is often the case
that upgrading to the newest version of the video driver will solve the
problem. You can get the newest driver from the manufacturer of your
video card, or you can check online services such as America Online or
CompuServe.
The problem is not very common. So far, we have seen the problem occur
with the Number Nine video card and a couple of other obscure cards.
In the case of Number Nine, getting the most recent version of the
driver solved the problem. If you do run into a problem that causes
ColorMe! not to color the pictures properly, would you please provide
us the following information by FAX, email, or letter?
Your name and telephone number
Your FAX/email (if applicable)
Version number of ColorMe! (use Help->About)
Type of computer
Manufacturer of computer
Manufacturer of video card (include address, and phone number)
Type of video card
Model of video card
Filename of video driver
Version and date of driver software
Version and date of video BIOS (if applicable)
Any other applicable information.
If you provide us with the above information, we'll let you know
if we have seen the problem with your particular video driver, and
whether or not there is a new version to fix the problem.
