This is the READ.ME file for TurboDLD v1.02B. It contains
information that has changed or is different from the Installation
Guide, as well as some other useful tips.
Important:
----------
This version of TurboDLDDeluxe only supports the Diamond Stealth VRAM,
Stealth 24, Stealth Pro, SpeedStar 24X, and Viper VLB graphics boards.
Support for any other EGA, VGA, 8514/A, TIGA, XGA, S3, or Compaq QVision
board may be obtained directly from Panacea Inc. Please see the end of
this file for more details.
I - TIPS/ERRATA/FEATURES/REVISIONS
============================================================
- New File Browser for the Drawing Viewer for AutoCAD Release 12.
Just type "dldview" and a dialog box exactly the same as
AutoCAD's file open dialog appears. You can select a file to view
and it will appear in the current viewport.
- Rendering Resolution options will be available only when
configuring a Rendering device, not directly from the Graphics
Board/Resolution Menu as indicated in the Installation Guide.
Rendering options will appear when AutoCAD R12's AVE Render
is first configured or when configuring 3D Studio or AutoShade.
It may be necessary to reconfigure AVE Render by using the
RCONFIG command at the AutoCAD command prompt.
- For AutoCAD R12 setup, when installing TurboDLD Deluxe into a
subdirectory other than \ACAD\DRV, you must edit the ACADDRV
environment variable to point to the TurboDLD sub-directory.
For example, if TurboDLD Deluxe was installed into a sub-directory
on drive C: named TURBODLD, the ACADDRV environment variable would
look like the following:
SET ACADDRV=C:\ACAD\DRV;C:\TURBODLD
- New Features included in this version, Real-time panning,
Drawing Viewer, ZoomPreview spy glass. See your Installation
Guide for complete details on how to use these features.
- When running at greater than 8 bits-per-pixel (256 colors),
setting physical colors via DLDCOLOR will have no visible
effect until an SAVE and EXIT occurs.
- There is no longer a Remove or Overwrite mode for the Display
List. TurboDLD functions as the Remove mode did in previous DLD
versions, eliminating flashing of erased vectors, without affecting
performance.
- The BPCACHE is normally disabled, not enabled as is indicated in
the Installation Guide. Enabling BPCACHE will only make a noticeable
performance difference when using TIGA-based graphics boards.
- For those persons with low CPU RAM and less than 20mb of available hard
disk space you should use the -SWAPCHK ON switch to configure AutoCAD.
This switch will give you the option of saving your drawing when AutoCAD
starts to run out of disk space. The way you configure this is to change
into your AutoCAD program sub-directory and at the prompt type:
CFIG386 ACAD -SWAPCHK ON
- With the TurboDLD Deluxe configuration, the Your Own BIOS option referred
to in the Installation Guide is not yet available. If your video board is
not listed in the selection of boards, try the Generic option for your
graphics platform. If you are not sure which platform your graphics board
is based on, please refer to your user's manual or contact the board
manufacturer for more information.
