  6.     This file contains Windows 95 protected mode drivers for the
  7.     Teac CD-55A 4x cd-rom drive for use on the OPTi 929 based sound
  8.     card included in the Diamond Multimedia Kits 4000 and 5000.

  13. INSTALLATION PROCESS
  14.  
  15. 1.    It is required to obtain and install the Win95 drivers for the
  16.     MMK4000/5000 prior to installing these drivers.  The
  17.     file you will need is "MM929W95.EXE".  Note this filename was
  18.     current as of this readme, but subject to change with later
  19.     revisions.  If you cannot locate it contact Diamond Multimedia
  20.     Systems for the current filename.  Please review the "README.TXT"
  21.     file included with the file.  The installation steps that follow
  22.     will assume the sound support was installed with the "OPTi929
  23.     Sound System: Sound/Game/MKEPanasonic CD-ROM" option.

  25. 2.    Once this is done you will need to remove the previous real mode
  26.     driver support for the Teac CD-55A cd-rom drive.  Remove the
  27.     following lines from the,
  28.  
  29.     config.sys file:
  30.     "DEVICE=C:\DIAMOND\CDSETUP.SYS ... "
  31.     "DEVICE=C;\DIAMOND\TEAC_CDA.SYS ... "

  33.     autoexec.bat file:
  34.     " ... mscdex ... "
  35.  
  36. 3.    Open Win95's Control Panel/System icon and select the Device Manager
  37.     tab.
  38.  
  39. 4.    Look for the "CD-ROM controllers" device listing.  You should have a
  40.     listing for "MKEPanasonic...".  Double click on the device to get the
  41.     properties.  Then select the "Driver" tab.
  42.  
  43. 5.    Choose the "Change Driver..." button from this applet.  Use the "Have
  44.     Disk" option and path to the drive and directory where you expanded
  45.     this file.  Then select "OK".
  46.  
  47. 6.    You will be presented with 3 options:
  48.  
  49.     "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/16 bit Card"
  50.     "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit Card"
  51.     "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit MKE Interface Card"

  53.     Choose the last option, ""TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit MKE Interface Card"
  54.     and proceed with the install.

  56. 7.    Goto the "Start" menu and choose to "Shut Down... ".  Pick the "Restart
  57.     the computer?" option.  When the system restarts Win95 the installation
  58.     will be complete.

  60. 8.    You will have the following device types and specific devices when
  61.     viewing the Device Manager:

  63.     "CD-ROM controllers" - "TEAC4x CD-ROM Drive w/8 bit MKE Interface Card"
  64.     and
  65.     "CDROM" - "TEAC CD-ROM CD-55A"
