Imagine 128 4 Meg Windows 95 Driver (v.1.00.14)
This is a BETA release of the Windows 95 driver for the Imagine 128
card. The driver supports all resolutions from 640x480x8 bpp to 1600x1200x16
bpp, including 1152x870x32 bpp (and all resolutions in between). The driver
is fully functional with Windows 95, and has been in use in house for
several months. However this is a BETA driver, so please report any and all
anomalies to #9. The driver DOES NOT support the Hawkeye feature set, that
will be added at a later date. There is also no support currently for user
selection of higher refresh rates, that will be supported by Hawkeye95.
Refresh rate selection is built into Windows 95. This means that Win95
will tell us (the driver) what refresh rate the monitor can support, and
the Imagine 128 driver will set that refresh rate. You must select the
correct monitor type to assure proper functioning of this feature in Win95.
It is possible to get a scrambled display by selecting a monitor that has
higher refresh capabilities than your monitor can support. On a typical
NEC 6FG monitor, 1024x768 resolution will be set to aprox. 90Hz.
This driver has some acceleration features built in, as well as full
functionality under Win95. However, the primary goal was for stability
first, so full acceleration is not yet implemented.
To install the driver, unzip the Imagine.zip file into a directory on
your hard drive, or onto a floppy. Go into the Control Panel and select
Add New Hardware, then select no (choose hardware from list), then Display
Adapters and Have Disk... Enter the directory where the driver files are
located. The Imagine 128 card .inf file will do the rest.
Since this is a BETA release we would like detailed information
concerning any anomalies you may discover. Please use the FEEDBACK.TXT file
located in this directory to report any problems. Prior to filling out the
forms, please verify that the anomaly is display driver related by following
these steps on your computer:
- Go to the Control Panel, select the System icon
- click on the Performance Tab
- press the Graphics button and
- slide the Hardware Acceleration button all the way to None
- Click OK, and restart Windows 95.
- Try to repeat the problem.
If the problem persists, it is probably not the display driver.
Please report the problem anyway, but let us know that acceleration was
disabled. If the problem goes away when you disable acceleration, try
increasing acceleration one click at a time, until the problem returns,
this will give us very usefull information as to where the problem may
be in our driver.
Thank You for your help.
The #9 Win95 Team.
